The Yawpers

The Yawpers are the sheep in wolf’s clothing.

Through their first three albums, the group divined a signature style—what Pitchfork described as “an expansive vision of rock ‘n’ roll, one that cherrypicks from various folk traditions: punk, rockabilly, blues, whatever they might have on hand or find in the trash.” The sound is a front-heavy, groovy, fire & brimstone punk-blues overlying a dynamic and metaphysical roots rock. On their fourth album Human Question, the Denver trio zooms out to a more vast and accessible stylistic and spiritual universe. The 38-minute thrill ride generates growth and cathartic self-reflection for audience and performer alike. If there was justice in this world, the Yawpers would be the savior that rock-n-roll didn’t know it was waiting for.

Following their critically acclaimed and meticulously plotted concept album Boy in a Well (set in World War I France, concerning a mother who abandoned her unwanted newborn), the Yawpers created Human Question with a contrasting immediacy. The album was written, rehearsed, and recorded over a two-month period with Reliable Recordings’ Alex Hall (Cactus Blossoms, JD McPherson) at Chicago’s renowned Electrical Audio. The band tracked live in one room, feeding off the collective energy and adding few overdubs. Through the new approach, ten songs connect with an organically linked attitude and style.

On Human Questionlead singer and guitarist Nate Cook writes his way out of trauma, rather than wallowing in it, as was his self-destructive formula in the past. “I wanted to take a crack at using these songs as therapy, really,” Cook said. “I think I’ve always been inclined to write more towards the dregs of my psyche, and explore my depressions and trauma, rather than describe a way out.” The self-reflection engages the band’s trademark dangerous, emotionally fraught choogle, and the listener is constantly kept on edge, not knowing when to brace for a bombastic impact or lean back and enjoy the ride.

The band skillfully balances that Jekyll and Hyde formula. In “Child of Mercy” guitarist Jesse Parmet revs the engines with a disintegrating blues guitar framework, backed by a breakneck beat by new drummer Alex Koshak. Eventually, the tune whips into a cyclone of distortion and Cook’s sustained falsetto, as he howls, “Won’t you please wake me up when the night is over.” For such a raw and kinetic sound, the Yawpers are never stuck in one gear for long. They deftly navigate shifting dynamics and moods, and if you squint your ears, the Sun Studios’ Million Dollar Quartet, transmogrifies into the ghosts of Gun Club, Jon Spencer, and Bo Diddley.

“Dancing on my Knees” is the direction that Dan Auerbach could’ve taken Black Keys: raw yet poppy, outsider while mainstream, danceable while thought-provoking (lyrics include “It wasn’t what I asked for / But it’s exactly what I need / You’ve said there’s growth in agony / And we finally agree”). There are moments of blunt Stooges raw power (“Earn Your Heaven”), shaker rhythms behind ‘70s psychedelic rock (“Human Question”), and the  salacious boogie of Zeppelin(“Forgiveness Through Pain”). Through it all, Human Question is impossible to confuse with anything else—it’s distinctly the Yawpers.

“Man As Ghost”, “Can’t Wait,” and “Where the Winters End” reveal a softer and contemplative side, blending touches of modern Americana and folk music. In these moments of sonic respite, Cook and company display their range through acoustic guitar strums, relaxed and aired-out tempos, and big yet dialed-in vocal runs. But, no song exhibits the band’s extended capabilities like “Carry Me,” a Gospel-soul burner that builds from hushed to impassioned, with the lead singer begging for salvation in full open-throated fervor by song’s end.

Human Question isn’t meant for the meek or casual listener. It will make you dance, mosh, sing along, and dig deep into your soul. Some people lament that rock-n-roll is dead. They just haven’t heard the Yawpers yet.

CITRA

Hailing from Denver, CO... High-energy, guitar-driven grit-rock weaving its way through soulful, heartfelt melodies. Bright. Fast. Fun. Loud. CITRA.

CITRA tore into the Denver music scene in January, 2016 with their debut EP - Ocean. The EP promised a bright future for the band, released only three months after their meeting. The album rockets off with the opening track "Settle Down", and weaves it's way through an eclectic mix of melodic, at times harrowing, non-stop rock, highlighted by the band's pleadingly powerful title track, "Ocean". Armed with a care-free style the band aims to inject a bit of fun into the EDM and folk-rock dominated Denver music scene.

Following the release of their debut EP, Ocean, CITRA returned to the studio in the summer of 2016 to begin recording the follow-up single, "Air" accompanied by the B-side titled "My My Mind". Released in January of 2017, the single looked to build on the momentum the band had built over their first year together. Contrasting in style, the songs continue to illustrate that CITRA will be a hard act to paint into a stylistic corner, the two tracks representing vastly different wings of the ever-clouded indie rock genre.

Zion I

Since the release of the debut album, Mind Over Matter in 2000, Zion I has risen up the ranks of independent hip-hop to solidify their standing as one of the most prolific conscious rap groups of the past 2 decades. Boasting a catalog that consists of over two-dozen albums, EPs, mixtapes and  collaborations, Zion I (currently consisting solely of MC/producer Zumbi) continues to create inspired music influenced by social & political woes, personal challenges & triumphs as well as family, spirituality and a raw perspective on the world at large.

Cited by A.V. Club as “remarkable”, Zumbi continues to showcase his talents as a unique, diverse and skilled MC while maintaining his place as one of the most recognizable voices in Hip-Hop. The 2016 release, The Labyrinth was cited by PopMatters as “a timely new album of politically engaged hip-hop”. Fueled by his own personal losses as well as the current political and social climate of the world-at-large, Zumbi has created a record that, as the Huffington Post put it; “is as heartfelt as it is badass”.

Being one of the most energetic and engaging live acts out there, Zion I continues to bring the music to the masses at festivals, events and venues across the planet. With a sound and style that bends musical genres, Zion I is able to perform alongside a diverse range of artists ranging from rap, rock and reggae to jam band and EDM.

With the latest release of Ritual Mystik, Zion I continues to make music that while left-of-center is still relevant, fresh and exciting as ever. As Okayplayer put it; “At the end of the day, Zion I’s strength lies in the same areas where many artists falter – evolving without abandoning tried and tested methods.”

Wild Rivers

The inviting harmonies of Wild Rivers provide a shimmering texture to the band’s latest EP, Eighty-Eight and brand new song “Moving Target.” However, dedicated fans know about the depth of Wild Rivers – from the alluring melodies that take unexpected turns to the undercurrent of emotion in their tightly-crafted lyrics.

Wild Rivers is composed of Khalid Yassein (vocals, guitar), Devan Glover (vocals), Andrew Oliver (guitar, bass) and Julien Laferriere (drums). The Toronto-based band has accrued more than 77 million streams on Spotify, toured consistently across the U.S. and Canada, and earned a reputation as a band that makes a powerful connection with listeners.

The Copper Children

We are here to curate an adventure inward and calibrate a celebration of all that is great.  With a soulful, rhythmic melody softly sweeping you to the dance floor, resistance is futile.

The Copper Children is a folk band from Denver blending original soul and psychedelic rock into a moving performance. Like a roller coaster, their “Psychedelic Gospel” experience leaves audiences feeling transported to the rail-yards of freedom.  Over the past three years the band has performed for audiences at Summer Camp, Northwest String Summit, Arise Music Festival, and several national tours around the United States. Driven by rhythm, and vibration, the band formed in July of 2015 and released their first album as a group in June 2016, What We Are. Their third upcoming album Speaking in Spirits will be a strong followup to their growing online presence and continued listener support.

The Copper Children are alive and well, and steaming rainbow clouds in a town near you!

Dessa

Singer, rapper, and writer Dessa has made a career of bucking genres and defying expectations—her résumé as a musician includes performances at Lollapalooza and Glastonbury, co-compositions for 100-voice choir, performances with the Minnesota Orchestra, and a top-200 entry on the Billboard charts for her album Parts of Speech. She contributed to the #1 album The Hamilton Mixtape; her track, “Congratulations,” notched over 5 million streams. Dessa’s third full-length album Chime (Doomtree Records) was listed by NPR as one of 2018’s most anticipated albums. As a writer, she’s been published by The New York Times Magazine, broadcast by Minnesota Public Radio, published two literary collections of her own, and is set to release her first hardcover collection, My Own Devices, in the fall of 2018. She’s been covered by Pitchfork, Forbes, and The Wall Street Journal amongst others. The LA Times says Dessa “sounds like no one else.” The Utne Reader calls her a “one-woman powerhouse.” On the stage and on the page, her style is defined by a ferocity, wit, tenderness, and candor.

MONAKR

Chicago-based MONAKR formed in 2014 as a collaboration between former members of indie pop band Hey Champ (Saam Hagshenas and Jonathan Marks) and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Matthew Santos. Largely inspired by the Peter Gabriel flavored electro-pop-rock of the ’80s, MONAKR’s music couples with dark R&B and the moody trip-hop of the late ’90s.

Authority Zero

Since ’94 Authority Zero has brought their unique blend of anthemic melodic-punk, ska, and reggae tone to the masses.  A lot has changed in their 20 plus years since the band’s inception but they have always found a way to persist and thrive in todays ever-changing music landscape. “It’s been a long and adventurous trek”, says Jason Devore (singer/songwriter). The band was formed in Mesa, Arizona by a group of high school friends with ample ambition but no lofty expectations of what the project could become.  With the release of their debut album, A Passage in Time (2002, Lava Records), the band’s career gained momentum and they quickly found themselves on the road, touring extensively with acts such as Pennywise, Sum 41, Flogging Molly, H20, and many more. Over the past ten years Authority Zero has gained international acclaim, spending time on the European festival circuit as well as stints in Australia, Russia, Japan. They have released a total of six full length studio albums, many holding spots on Billboard’s Chart and their music has been featured in numerous video games, tv shows, and movie soundtracks. The band’s many successes have been accompanied by a few bumps in the road including a slew of line-up changes, music industry letdowns, as well as having their van, trailer and equipment stolen while on tour in Texas. The secret to their longevity is simple; keep it pure and believe in your music.

Now, 24 years since the band’s inception, the future remains as bright as ever for Authority Zero, consisting of singer Jason DeVore, bassist Mike Spero, guitarist Dan Aid and drummer Chris Dalley. In June of 2018, the guys got back to work at legendary Fort Collins studio, The Blasting Room (Rise Against, Descendents, NOFX) to record their seventh full length album, Persona Non Grata with producer and iconic punk drummer, Bill Stevenson (Black Flag/Descendents/ALL). “The writing process for recording our new album (Persona Non Grata) was simply awesome. The music and lyrical content came together so organically in such a short amount of time given that our last record, Broadcasting To The Nations, only came out a year ago. Mike, Dan, Chris, and I put our hearts into this one and we are all extremely proud of the work we were able to do as a collective. The music and sound are classic Authority Zero but with a slightly revised approach. For the the fans as well as ourselves we strive to give each record its own individual character and life.” Said DeVore.

The new album, Persona Non Grata will be Authority Zero’s first self-released studio album and will be available on December 7, 2018. There will be an album release show on December 8th at the Marquee Theater in Tempe, Arizona. The release of Persona Non Grata will be followed by an early spring European Tour in 2019 and a summer headlining tour of the United States.

The following year they released a double A side picture disc (Poser/Rover). The band spent two years touring extensively, highlighted by performances at SXSW and Treefort Music Festival. They have opened for national acts such as Third Eye Blind, Cake, Rooney, DIIV, Cold War Kids, The Kills, and Modest Mouse. After sharpening their live show on the road, the band entered the studio with legendary record producer, Chris “Frenchie” Smith. Grupo Fantasma

Grupo Fantasma has been praised as one of the most important independent acts in the Latin genre and has continually defied expectations to create one of the most unique musical voices to come out of the United States in the 21st century. In 2011, they garnered further acclaim by winning a Grammy (their second such nomination) for their self–produced release El Existential on Nat Geo Music which the Wall Street Journal called “Latin music both new and traditional...vibrant fusions that transcend easy classification.”

The band’s incendiary live show, declared by NPR as “seamless whenever and wherever they’re on stage” has brought the band to major festivals and venues internationally including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, North Sea Jazz Festival (Curacao and Rotterdam) and Lowlands in the Netherlands, Kennedy Center, London’s O2 Arena, Montreal Jazz Festival, WOMEX, WOMAD, Tempo Latino (France) as well as two tours to Kuwait and Iraq to entertain US troops and a recent tour in Pakistan and Qatar. Their diverse spectrum of devoted fans speaks to the ensemble’s universal appeal beyond just Latin or world music.

In addition, they have served as the backing band for and collaborated on several occasions with the late, great, legendary Prince (ALMA Awards on ABC, Golden Globes, CBS Super Bowl Bash, 21 Nights in London), Fania All–Stars pianist Larry Harlow, Sheila–E, GZA of Wu–Tang Clan, Maceo Parker, Curt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets, Ruben Ramos, GZA of the Wu–Tang Clan, cult–hero Daniel Johnston, indie rock standouts Spoon, Los Lobos and many others. In 2015 and 2016 they continued to tour the globe with club and festival dates in support of their latest studio release, Problemas (Blue Corn Music); their 6th full–length album produced by Multi–Grammy award winner Steve Berlin of Los Lobos and released in late 2015. Additionally, they have appeared on the nationally syndicated PBS show Austin City Limits 3 times (2016, 2014, 2007). Their music has also appeared in films and movies including Breaking Bad (AMC), Weeds (Showtime), Frankie & Gracie (Netflix), Law & Order (NBC) as well as the John Sayles’ film Casa de los Babies among others.

The nine-piece collective formed in 2000 in Austin, Texas and consists of Jose Galeano (timbales, vocals), Kino Esparza (vocals, hand percussion), Beto Martinez (guitar), Greg Gonzalez (bass), John Speice (drums), Matthew “Sweet Lou” Holmes (congas), Gilbert Elorreaga (trumpet), Josh Levy (baritone saxophone) and Mark “Speedy” Gonzales (trombone).

ATOMGA

Since their inception in 2011, ATOMGA has continued to be a unique staple in the Colorado Music circuit and a celebrated group internationally. Over the past seven years, ATOMGA has evolved their sound to be a unique brand of Afrobeat with infused elements of Rock, Jazz, and even Classical influences over the foundation of polyrhythms from their fierce percussion section.

On an international level, ATOMGA has gotten their tracks remixed by artists such as Paris DJ's in France, had an award-winning beer named after them in Brazil and have been repeatedly requested as the opening act for artists such as Seun Kuti and the Egypt 80- from Nigeria. There is no question that across the world- people appreciate the music of ATOMGA. With their latest release entitled "AGA" in February of 2018, ATOMGA shows no signs of slowing down.

The release of "AGA" shows the band's evolving sound of high energy music that one cannot help but move to upon hearing. Beyond that, there is also a certain musicality that highlights each of the 9 members and the honed skills on their respective instruments; not to mention lyrical messages that tastefully question the powers that be.

ATOMGA has a reputation for their live performances to be a fun-filled dance party for all ages and all walks of life.

Marcus Rezaks' Shred is Dead w/Allen Aucoin (The Disco Biscuits)

Progressive high- octane instrumental and vocal performances of The Grateful Dead & Jerry Garcia Band, harvesting a pure blend of inspirational jams and fierce rock n roll. Led by guitarist Marcus Rezak with an all-star group of musicians from across the musical universe. After recently opening for Melvin Seals and JGB in Hermosa Beach, CA, Pink Talking Fish at the Park West in Chicago, IL, sold out shows in Denver, Co at The Ripple, Winston’s in Ocean Beach, CA and a blistering performance at Skull & Roses Festival in Ventura, CA, the band has been on fire performing all across the U.S. for a memorable nights of love, energy, and high energy shredding jams!

While Rezak is known for his work in Digital Tape Machine, Shred is Dead and Katharsis, his new record Gateway to the Galaxy is his first studio effort featuring his own original compositions. A Chicago-based recording artist, touring musician, and session guitarist, Rezak is best known for his collaborations with members of Umphrey’s McGee, The Motet, Dopapod, RAQ, Primus, Circles Around The Sun, and more.

After the great Bill Evans* listened to Rezak’s record Gateway To The Galaxy, he proclaimed "Marcus Rezak is one of the most compelling and gifted guitarist / composers to come along in a long time. He is one of the new generation of musicians who I feel will be one of the pioneers in innovative music. He has the ability to connect the dots and take it to the next level. His playing reminds me of a cross between John McLaughlin, Jimi Hendrix and Jake Cinninger!! Marcus Rezak is here to stay.”

The story of Marcus Rezak is not one for those who don’t believe in fated occurrences or natural affinity. It is not for those who don’t believe that passion should forcefully direct the flow of one’s life. It is, however, a tale for seekers ready to leave misgivings at the door and allow music’s sway to settle in their minds like a rich fog. In music, we find truth. Within music’s truth, we find the sounds of Marcus Rezak.

TULA

Tula is a five piece progressive funk rock band consisting of two guitars, drums, bass and a saxophone. Tula was first formed in Chicago by frontman Brian Duggan as the Brian Duggan Project in 2008. After touring and performing in the Midwest for a few years, Duggan re-rooted the band to Denver and formed a permanent cast of musicians that makes up present day Tula.

The group's organic and unique style brings a refreshing diverse sound to the traditional jam band setup. Their live shows bring even the most reserved attendees to the dance floor as they infuse a variety of genres together from blues to rock to reggae and more.

The Denver band spent the winter working on their first full-length album, Follow the Beast Inside, recorded at Scanhope Sound in Colorado with mastermind producer Joshua Fairman. Tula has an exciting year ahead of them with an album release, music video releases, tour dates and an ever expanding diverse geographical fan base. Check out what the media has deemed as "Colorado Funk with Chicago roots" and experience what this band is all about.

Redbone

Pat Vegas has continued to write music over the years. Some tunes had been recorded since 1980, with Lolly of course, but also with Tony bellamy for some songs. Finally in 2005 Pat puts this work out on a new CD called One World. It was released in 2005 by a small independent record company. It was reedited in 2009 and retitled as Peace Pipe. At the same period Pat Vegas recreates the band with new musicians. They tour mainly in the west of the United States since.

Redbone was inducted into the Native American Music Association Hall of Fame in 2008, as well as the New York Smithsonian in 2013.

They were also honored with vein painted on the largest mural in the US in Fresno CA. On August 30, 2014 Pat Vegas was honored with the Lifetime Achievement "Legend" Award from the "West Coast American Indian Music Awards."

On December 25, 2009, Tony Bellamy died from liver failure at a hospital in his hometown of Las Vegas, and less than three months later, Lolly Vegas succumbed to lung cancer at his family home in Reseda, California on March 4, 2010.

So all hope to see the original band play together again was lost forever. But Redbone's music continues to fill our hearts and minds and Pat continues to work with his new band. Peacepipe shows that the spirit and soul is still there and that we can hope he and his new musicians will continue to offer us great music and new songs.

In 2014, "Come And Get Your Love" experienced a resurgence in popularity when it was featured in the Marvel Studios film Guardians of the Galaxy, as one of the songs on a mixtape made for the protagonist, Peter Quill. It was also included on the film's soundtrack album, which reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

Cary Morin

Cary Morin brings together the great musical traditions of America and beyond like no other, from the rocking, electrified world groove of The Atoll, to the pared-down acoustic blues of Sing It Louder, which showcases Morin’s deft fingerstyle guitar.  Sing It Louder revisits Morin’s musical origins in Great Falls,
Montana, where he cut his teeth picking guitar standards at neighborhood get-togethers. Here, original songs, such as This Train, Rounders, and the title track, as well as innovative covers of War and Black Friday, display his distinctive songwriting style, which has been described as acoustic Native Americana, with strong qualities of jam, reggae, jazz, blues, bluegrass and dance. Tim Duffy, president of Music Makers Relief Foundation, describes Morin as “a brilliant guitarist, heartfelt songwriter and soulful singer whose music gives us pause to reflect on life's great rewards.”

The release of Sing It Louder follows close on the international success Pura Fe Trio Live! A Blues Night in North Carolina, a recording from which Ole Midlife Crisis, a song he wrote and performed with Pura Fé, placed at number 17 on France’s iTunes blues chart in March 2011.

Crow tribal member and son of an air force officer, Morin was born in 1962 in Billings, Montana. He spent the bulk of his youth in Great Falls before relocating to Northern, Colorado. There, his musical career started off running with The Atoll, a band he founded in 1989 and that toured nationally, quickly gaining an enthusiastic and devoted following. With The Atoll and The Pura Fé Trio, and also as a solo artist, Morin has played celebrated venues across the globe, including Paris Jazz Festival, Winter
Park Jazz Festival, Folk Alliance International, River People Festival,  Shakori Hill Festival and the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Morin’s performances have reached millions through national TV in Japan, France
and the UK; and national radio in the US (NPR’s Beale Street Caravan), UK (BBC’s Whose London), France (RFI), Switzerland and Belgium.

Morin’s musical relationship with Pura Fé began during the stage show Tribe at the Celebrity Theater in
Phoenix. His stage credits also include co-authorship of Turtle Island, a 50-member production that played two consecutive years to sold-out audiences in Northern Colorado. With the Red Willow Dancers, Morin was a guest of the internationally renowned Kodo Drummers in Ogi japan, performing at their 1998 spring festival and other dates in Japan. He has produced or appeared on over 15 recordings, and has toured 22 US states, as well as Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium and the UK.

Low Cut Connie

Since Low Cut Connie's debut record Get Out the Lotion (NPR’s Fresh Air Top 10 albums of 2011), they’ve firmly established their reputation as one of the most exciting live shows in the US, with Greg Kot (Sound Opinions / Chicago Tribune) exclaiming they are “the essence of what rock n roll should be” and the New York Times stating “The group’s live show is a strange phenomenon.”

Adam Weiner's $100 junker piano, named Shondra, is the backbone of their boogie strain of rock n roll. Recently adding longtime Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings member Saundra Williams, the result is what Rolling Stone describes as "a mix of Seventies Stones (but dirtier), the New York Dolls (but tighter) and Jerry Lee Lewis (but Westerberg-ier)...with an extra sense of bare-knuckled grit and sonic thwump.”

On their 5th studio album Dirty Pictures (Part 2), released via Contender Records, the band urges all current and former youths: Feel your feelings. Feel sadness, feel love, feel wildness. Give your feelings away to others and maybe it will lift us up. It’s this musical and emotional literacy that sets the band apart, with their world-weary but life-affirming attitude that inspires their cult following and notable cheerleaders such as Barack Obama, Sir Elton John, Howard Stern.

Rolling Stone recently included Dirty Pictures (Part 2) on their list of the 50 Best Albums of 2018 so far. In his four-star review, David Fricke called the record "a stand-alone triumph of missionary zeal." In a First Listen feature, NPR Music said, "Across five albums of piano-driven rock and soul, Low Cut Connie has proven masterfully fluent in the foundational languages of Western pop, living at the crossroads where the church house meets the roadhouse, or where the Dew Drop Inn meets CBGB... The blood that pumps through the Philadelphia band's work comes from a place that's fresh, original, and truly pledged to rock and roll." With more than 120 shows per year, including stops at festivals like Bonnaroo, Bottle Rock, Rock The Garden, Pickathon, Newport Folk Festival and more, this little act from Philly continues to dig in their corner of the sandbox. Low Cut Connie light a fire at every show and with every record. Dirty Pictures (part 2) reminds all of us, all the little people, to keep our fires lit at any cost.

Christopher the Conquered

Christopher the Conquered has traveled North America and Europe for over 10 years, piano in tow, sharing his self-proclaimed “interstellar soul” music with anyone who will listen.

His 2016 album I'm Giving Up On Rock & Roll has received over 500,000 listens online and garnered positive reviews, with Alternative Press labeling it a "raw, emotional" album and ABC News declaring his music as "compelling, interesting, and funny".

He followed up that album with the single “Mama, I Wanna Be James Brown” (feat. Max Jury), a song written in response to the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida. When Consequence of Sound premiered the track, he told them, “This song is about me wanting to be what I want to be, for people who want to be what they want to be.”

His most recent singles “The Day I Went Solo” and “Too Many Teardrops Away” (Feb. 8, 2019) mark a new beginning, a return to the DIY home recording of his youth in a search for the core spirit of his songs.

Christopher developed his songwriting while growing up in Iowa, but he now calls Colorado home. He has spent time on stage supporting a wide array of magnificent artists, including Leon Russell, Andrew Bird, Sturgill Simpson, The Mountain Goats, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Julien Baker, Natalie Prass, and St. Paul & the Broken Bones.

In between panel appearances with the likes of Philip Glass, writing for Smithsonian Folkways Magazine, and multiple features in Billboard, Christopher continues to hone his songwriting daily, working toward a simple language that communicates elemental human emotions as only music can. His musical heroes are Nina Simone, Randy Newman, and Jonathan Richman.

If you've never heard the songs of Christopher the Conquered, then take the advice of Paste Magazine and "Listen now."

Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears

While working at a pawn shop in Austin, Joe Lewis first picked up the guitar. Shortly thereafter, Joe Lewis immersed himself in the local Red River blues/garage scene, recording and performing with Austin luminaries such as the Weary Boys and Walter Daniels. Upon the release of the 2005 Brian Salvi produced Black Joe Lewis and The Cold Breeze EP with standout track "Bitch I Love You" featuring Matt Hubbard on Rhodes electric piano and the 2007 album Black Joe Lewis, both released on Italian label Shake Yo Ass Records, the band gained critical national acclaim and toured as openers for Spoon and Okkervil River in 2007.

The band signed to Lost Highway Records in 2008. Following the signing and performances at 2008's Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Music Festival, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears released a four-song EP on January 27, 2009.

Their debut album Tell 'Em What Your Name Is! was released on March 17, 2009. It was produced by Spoon's drummer Jim Eno. Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears have performed at music festivals including BonnarooCoachella Valley Music and Arts FestivalBumbershootOutside Lands Music and Arts FestivalSasquatch! Music FestivalWakarusa Music and Camping FestivalMusikfestLatitude Festival, and Splendour in the Grass. The band has appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig FergusonLate Show with David LettermanAustin City Limits, and Later... with Jools Holland.

Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears were featured in Echotone, a 2010 documentary about the Austin, Texas music scene. On August 25, 2013, Joe Lewis stated on NPR that he was trying to shed the 'Honeybears' portion of the band's name, and had never intended for it to continue for so long.

In 2017, his latest album, Backlash, debuted at number 3 in the Billboard Top Blues Albums Chart

Robbie Peoples

Robby Peoples embarked on his musical career at the age of 19. Playing harmonica, guitar, and writing songs on his back porch in his college town of Oxford, Mississippi - Robby became a self-taught natural. Cutting his teeth in Jackson, his music career began with far ranging appearances in the rich local music scene.

Since then, Robby has relocated to Colorado where he’s found a unique niche as a Southern, soulful, and almost dirty at times artist. With the relocation to Denver, he has been fortunate enough to play with many heavy hitters in the rock and roll and blues genres; including Sam Holt, Polytoxic, an opening slot for Leon Russel, and guest appearances in a Thanksgiving Day Eve performance of The Last Waltz in which he has consistently became a fan favorite. He has also joined forces with The Congress over the years for both East Coast and West Coast tours as well as locally here in Colorado. He is currently working on a new record with Ben Walligoskie, James Dunn, Kramer Kelling, and Scott Rouch.

Robby continuously evolves his live performance, always producing a solid rock experience. Compared to the style of Muddy Waters with the energy and showmanship of Joe Cocker, his performances are raw and energy packed. He exudes a “fighting the good fight” outlook to keep Southern rock and roll alive with his energetic, lyrical, and aggressively edgy performances which continue to draw people back to his music.

The Brothers Comatose

Whether traveling to gigs on horseback or by tour bus, Americana mavens The Brothers Comatose forge their own path with raucous West Coast renderings of traditional bluegrass, country and rock ‘n’ roll music. The five-piece string band is anything but a traditional acoustic outfit with their fierce musicianship and rowdy, rock concert-like shows.

The Brothers Comatose is comprised of brothers Ben Morrison (guitar, vocals) and Alex Morrison (banjo, vocals), Scott Padden (bass, vocals), Philip Brezina (violin), and Greg Fleischut (mandolin). When they’re not headlining The Fillmore for a sold-out show or appearing at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, the band is out on the road performing across America, Canada, Australia, and hosting their very own music festival, Comatopia, in the Sierra foothills.

April of this year is finding the band touring Latvia and Lithuania as cultural ambassadors for American Music Abroad, which is run by the US State Department with the goal of sending American artists all over the world as a cultural exchange program. The band toured China in 2018 under the same program.

The remainder of 2019 will see the Brothers Comatose hitting the studio to record on their fifth studio album to be released on AntiFragile Records.

Jalan Crossland

Jalan Crossland is an “endemic Wyoming treasure” (Rita Basom- Wyoming Arts Council). He is widely acclaimed by audiences, critics, and his musical peers as being a premier acoustic guitarist, as well as banjo player, singer-songwriter, and engaging showman. Along with dozens of regional contest awards, his extraordinary guitar work earned him National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship honors in ’97 and the State Flatpick Championship title of his home state in 1999. In recognition for his contribution to the arts in Wyoming, he was bestowed with the Governor’s Arts Award in 2013.

Dirty Dozen Brass Band

Celebrating over 40 years since their founding in 1977, New Orleans-based Dirty Dozen Brass Band has taken the traditional foundation of brass band music and incorporated it into a blend of genres including Bebop Jazz, Funk and R&B/Soul. This unique sound, described by the band as a ‘musical gumbo,’ has allowed the Dirty Dozen to tour across 5 continents and more than 30 countries, record 12 studio albums and collaborate with a range of artists from Modest Mouse to Widespread Panic to Norah Jones. Forty-plus years later, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a world famous music machine whose name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances.

Slim Wednesday

Mix Jojo Hermann from Widespread Panic with The Dynamites and what do you get? Slim Wednesday, the day after Fat Tuesday—Southern Psych-Soul. Slim Wednesday creates a sound that keeps listeners dancing all night. The band focuses on the sound of New Orleans that was pioneered by artists like Professor Longhair, Dr. John, and The Funky Meters, all of which were a huge part of JoJo's musical background. John “JoJo” Hermann is known for his lead vocals on many New Orleans style jazz and blues covers and originals along with gospel-style organ playing. In capturing the quintessential sound of New Orleans, The Slim Wednesday Band will be sure to provide a night of dancing, partying, and great entertainment.

Big Chief Juan Pardo

Big Chief Juan Pardo and the Golden Comanche Mardi Gras Indians is an electrifying display of a culture that dates back over two hundred years in New Orleans. Chief Juan’s soulful voice brings any audience to feel like they are in the jazz filled streets of New Orleans. This percussion-heavy tribal music infused by the funk styles of the Meter’s, Willie T, and the Neville Brothers can only be performed by those who are chosen. The Chief and his Golden Comanche’s have studied the traditions of those before them and now are the keepers of the flame. Juan not only performs the music of this tradition but also writes and produces music that has become staples among tribes in New Orleans. Chief Juan has recorded and performed with many bands such as Galactic, 101 Runners, and Rhythm Conspiracy. He has graced the stage with names like Pattie Labell, Cryil Neville, Anders Osborne, Trombone Shorty, and Doctor John, to name a few. Chief Juan and the Comanche travel the world to bring the tribal and funk sound of New Orleans Culture to people everywhere.

5000 The Band

5000’s founding members are Meghann Jordan and Matt Youngblood. Meghann (5000) Jordan came up in the Athens, GA music scene. Surrounded by influences such as R.E.M., Vic Chesnutt, and other local musicians, she started playing guitar at age 13 and writing songs at 18. Matt spent the 2000’s in Minneapolis fronting his three-piece rock band, Chunky Jackson, heavily influenced by local bands such as Hüsker Dü and the Replacements.

Meghann and Matt met through longtime musical cohorts Dave Schools and Jerry Joseph. Both moved to Denver with the intention of starting an original rock band. They have been gigging as a duo (and sometimes a 4-piece rock band) for the past 2.5 years locally in Colorado, as well as nationally. Their music sounds like Minneapolis-meets-Athens Alterna-Punk with a strong 90's influence.

Celso Piña

Celso Piña (Born April the 6th 1953 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México) is a notable Mexican singer, composer and accordionist. In 2002, Piña was nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards: “Best Contemporary Tropical Album” and “Best New Artist From the North” as well as for “Best Alternative Artist” by the MTV Latino Awards. He is also know by the nicknames: “El Rebelde del Acordeón” and “El Cacique de la Campana”.

He’s an accordion player and singer who has risen to be one of the most notable figures in cumbia music. Cumbia has it’s origins in Colombia’s African and indigenous populations, but it has spread to be one of the most universal Latin American genres. Celso Piña is a pioneer in mixing or blending sounds of tropical base, combined with all kind of popular genres from norteño to sonidero, Ska, Reggae, Rap, Hip Hop or R&B, just to mention some. For this reason he’s considered one of the best musicians from Mexico and Latin America.

Celso’s album ‘Barrio Bravo,’ which includes collaborations with other popular Latin musicans of various genres, brought to life the mega hit “Cumbia Sobre El Rio.” Many of his popular crossover songs feature artists like Lila Downs, Control Machete, El Gran Silencio, Café Tacuva, Ely Guerra, Benny Ibarra, Alex Lora (El Tri), Aleks Syntek, Julieta Venegas, Inspector, Blanquito Man and Sargento García, amongst many others.

By the year 2011, Celso began to show his music around the world, with the "Cumbia Por El Mundo" tour where he has performed in more than 20 countries like: Germany, Colombia, Spain, United States, Canada, Guatemala, Denmark, Belgium, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Sweden, Poland, Italy, Argentina, Chile, Nicaragua, Perú, Morocco, among others. On October of 2015, Celso Piña took another big step in his career by taking his music to Asia where he toured in the 5 most important cities of China.

On March 25th, 2016, Celso Piña is getting ready to reléase in the United States his latest álbum named “Aquí presente compa”. With this new álbum, Celso Piña will continue consolidating his career as one of the most important Mexican artists around the world.

Pato Machete

Patricio Chapa Elizalde, aka "Pato Machete" was born on October 6, 1975 in Monterrey, Nuevo León. The musical talent becomes evident as a child, with a natural inclination towards rhythm and percussion. The process of learning instruments takes him to drums, the guitar, and the flute. In the fertile and unbridled music scene Regiomontana of the 90's was unveiled, collaborating with artists such as Gil Cerezo (current vocalist of Kinky) and Tony Hernández of El Gran Silencio. In this pulsating environment of creativity, discover the most lethal weapon in your musical arsenal: Your voice. Together with Fermín IV and Toy Selectah, they launch the HipHop group that set the tone and gave sound to a movement that came to transcend the city, to be played in neighborhoods around Latin America, and then the world: Control Machete. With Control Machete he recorded 3 albums: Mucho Barato (1997), Artillería Pesada Presenta (1999) and Uno, Dos: Bandera (2003). An aggressive, organic sound with relevant and direct lyrics accompanied a sonic onslaught that quickly cemented itself as a reference to Hispanic urban culture. Control Machete allows Pato to develop his technique, printing a sound that does not seek to compare or emulate other scenes or participants, but is a true reflection of a place, a moment and millions of people. Eilen Jewell

American Songwriter describes Eilen Jewell as, “one of America’s most intriguing, creative and idiosyncratic voices.” The Boise, Idaho songwriter is one of a kind.

That singular voice springs forth from a woman of more than one mind, and she taps into many of them on Gypsy (August, 2019 Signature Sounds Recordings). By turns personal and political, pissed off and blissed out, Jewell’s first album of original material since 2015 expands brief moments of joy into lifetimes, and distills epic sentiments and persistent doubts into succinct songs.

Jewell seamlessly blends heavy electric guitars and dirty fiddles on the rollicking country rocker “Crawl” with the sweet and understated horn section of the tender “Witness. "79 Cents (The Meow Song)" skewers sexism and discrimination with pointed humor over a circus bed of musical saw and horns.

Longtime fans who love Eilen Jewell in classic country mode will delight in the pedal steel driven "These Blues" and the sole cover on Gypsy, "You Cared Enough To Lie,” written by fellow Idahoan and country legend Pinto Bennett.

Rather than pulling artist and listener this way and that, the tensions within and between these twelve tracks propel Eilen Jewell’s eighth studio album forward as a remarkably cohesive full-length.

Canyon Kids

Sometimes a duo, sometimes a six piece, The Canyon Kids are always at the top of the game. Forged on the banks of the Snake River, with an unwavering love of the American West, Canyon Kids are students of Americana, rock, and folk, but also pioneers of something entirely new.

The Mother Hips

Twenty-five years into a celebrated career is an unlikely time to switch things up, but The Mother Hips have never been ones to follow convention. For their brilliant and exhilarating new release, ‘Chorus,’ the California stalwarts turned their recording process on its head, laying down elaborate studio demos to serve as a detailed roadmap for the album a full year before official recording sessions began. It was a step that offered both the time and the space to fully realize their music like never before, and the result is the most refined and cohesive album in The Mother Hips’catalog, one that marks the beginning of what promises to be their most creative and prolific chapter yet.

“We never did a lot of pre-production on our previous records,” says drummer John Hofer. “We had a system where we’d start recording and lock in the arrangements as we went, which was a fun way to work because you never knew how the songs were going to turn out.”

That spontaneity has always suited The Mother Hips, a band whose lofty reputation was built on the back of their spellbinding live shows, but by pushing themselves to work in a completely new way on ‘Chorus,’ they unlocked a slew of artistic rewards.

“Starting with these really fleshed out studio demos was exciting because it meant we could listen back months later with fresh ears,” says singer/guitarist/songwriter Tim Bluhm. “We could realize that a song might be more effective if we played it a little faster or sang it a little higher. It was like having a second chance to get everything just right.”

Bluhm co-founded The Mother Hips along with fellow guitarist/singer/songwriter Greg Loiacono while both were studying at Chico State in the early 90’s. Performing at frat parties quickly gave way to club shows, regional touring, and national buzz, and before they’d graduated from school, the band was signed to Rick Rubin’s American Recordings on the strength of their debut album, ‘Back To The Grotto.’ Over the ensuing two-and-a-half decades, they would go on to release eight more studio albums as they cemented their status as architects of a new breed of California rock and roll, one equally informed by the breezy harmonies of the Beach Boys, the funky roots of The Band, the psychedelic Americana of the Grateful Dead, and the soulful twang of The Byrds. Hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as “one of the Bay Area’s most beloved live outfits,” their headline and festival performances became the stuff of legend and helped them earn dates with everyone from Johnny Cash and Wilco to Lucinda Williams and The Black Crowes. Rolling Stone called the band “divinely inspired,” while Pitchfork praised their “rootsy mix of 70’s rock and power pop,” and The New Yorker lauded their ability to “sing it sweet and play it dirty.”

It’s been five years since the band’s last studio release of new material, though, and it’s been a tumultuous time on multiple fronts to say the least. Members grappled with immense changes in their personal lives and pursued a variety of outside and solo projects. Bluhm nearly died in a speed flying accident when he slammed into a pile of felled trees at roughly 35 miles-per-hour, and his path to healing was an arduous and daunting one. For the band, the ability to revisit the songs they’d been writing and demoing during such turbulent times with the distance and perspective that comes from a year of personal growth and recovery proved to be invaluable.

“When we actually started recording these songs for the album, there was this whole new level of energy and inspiration and excitement to it,” reflects Loiacono. “There was such a positive vibe in the studio, and the emotions and the performances we captured were so much more fully realized because of it.”

The band is quick to credit part of that excitement to their new partnership with Blue Rose Music, whose support enabled the band to team up with acclaimed producer Karl Derfler (Tom Waits, Roky Erickson) and enter the studio in Oakland without the traditional time and budgetary constraints that might have inhibited the free flow of creativity or the exploratory spirit that defines the album.

“When you feel like you’re believed in, it’s amazing what you can do,” reflects Bluhm. “Blue Rose made us feel like what we were creating really mattered, and that feeling alone just doubles the energy available for any creative endeavor.”

The effect is clear from the opening moments of ‘Chorus,’ a richly melodic album that finds the Hips embracing their rock and roll roots with a renewed sense of vitality. They channel Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis on “Didn’t Pay The Bill,” tap into 70’s cosmic country on the soaring “It’s Alright,” and take a blistering turn into riff rock with “Hi Note Hitters.”“Clean Me Up,” meanwhile, calls to mind the rich harmonies ofalt-country contemporaries The Jayhawks, and the driving “I Went Down Hard” (a rare co-write between Bluhm and Loiacono) addresses Bluhm’s brush with mortality head-on through lyrics written and demoed from a hospital bed.

“At that point, I’d been pretty much confined to a hospital bed for four months,” says Bluhm, who often pulls his lyrical inspiration from dreams rather than his waking life. “Writing about the mindset and the events that led to the physical state I was in made a lot of sense to me.”

The band also made another obvious—though no less revelatory—decision by inviting their old friend Jackie Greene, once dubbed “the Prince of Americana” by the New York Times, to play bass on the record.

“I was familiar with Jackie’s bass playing and I always thought he had a great feel,”says Hofer, “but I turned out even happier than I thought I’d be in the end. Jackie approached the bass on this album like a songwriter rather than a bass player, and I was always so impressed with the choices he made. He really played to the songs.”

Greene is but one star in the wider universe of The Mother Hips, and cultivating an inclusive community of music lovers and fellow artists has always been central to their ethos. From the Hipnic—their intimate music festival held annually in Big Sur—to Hipsmas—their annual holiday series in San Francisco—the band has long prided themselves on carving out their own self-sustained, DIY ecosystem for touring, recording, and releasing music, and they’ve worked hard to foster meaningful relationships both with and amongst their extremely dedicated fanbase. That sense of community is, in fact, where the album’s title came from.

“We were thinking about the Greek chorus, and how they were sort of the interpreters, the collective consciousness of the play,” says Loiacono. “That led to thinking about the wider Mother Hips world and all the fans who are such an important part of everything we do. For us, ‘Chorus’ means that there’s more to The Mother Hips than just the musicians and the lead singers. There’s this whole other side to the band that’s made up of everybody who’s part of this journey with us.”

Twenty-five years on, the journey continues with more joy and meaning and depth for the band and their fans than ever before. The Mother Hips may have turned their recording process upside down on ‘Chorus,’ but some things will never change.

Grant Farm

Boulder, Colorado-based Cosmic Americana band Grant Farm has entertained a growing fan base on the nation’s club and festival scene since its founding in 2009 by vocalist and National Flatpicking Guitar Champion Tyler Grant.

Built on the fundamentals of love, family, and music, the band is a sure bet for fans of high-energy, authentic artists as diverse as Sturgill Simpson, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Phish. Comprised of zany, creative and highly musical comrades, Grant Farm members include Grant (aka “The Champ”), Adrian “Ace” Engfer (bass and vocals), Sean “Magic” Macaulay(drums) and Kevin “Money” McHugh (keyboards and vocals).

Daniel Mescher of Colorado Public Radio dubbed Grant Farm “some of the ablest musicians not only in the state of Colorado, but in the nation.” Members’ prior experience includes playing with groups like The Emmitt-Nershi Band, Donovan Frankenreiter and Hot Soup. Collectively, they had also shared stages with notable artists Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Tim O’Brien, Tony Rice, Keller Williams, Jon Oates and the like and with notable groups The String Cheese Incident, Greensky Bluegrass, Yonder Mountain String Band and The Infamous Stringdusters.

The band’s latest release, Kiss the Ground (Summer 2016), represents its first full-length concept album and its third album of original music. Speaking to the struggles we all face as working people, Kiss the Ground sends a positive message while acknowledging real hardship in a society that expects far too much. “We think of this as our ode to the working people,” says Grant, whose song, “Get in Line,” discusses the high price we pay for things we want in life. Kiss the Ground explores real and mythological connections to the human struggle and pays homage to the "Working Class Hero," an archetype famously described by John Lennon.

Previous Grant Farm albums include a 2012 self-titled debut and a 2014 follow up, Plowin' Time, which reached #2 on JamBand Radio Charts and charted on Americana Radio. In 2014, the band also released the Meeting on the Mountain EP, an inspired collaboration with the group Fruition.

The band has also created the acclaimed Meeting on the Mountain LIVE, a collaborative, live webcast concert experience featuring Grant Farm as the house band and Tyler Grant as host. To date, episodes have featured Dave Bruzza of Greensky Bluegrass, Bill Nershi of String Cheese Incident, Todd Sheaffer of Railroad Earth, The Dead Winter Carpenters and other guests.

Like a “traveling Gypsy family,” Grant Farm enjoys their life of touring, writing and adventuring together as they share their music up and down the North American roots music line.

Passafire

On Passafire’s sixth studio release, Longshot, the Savannah, GA based rock outfit gives a testimony to following dreams, inspired by people, places, and experiences Passafire has shared since forming as a band. The group’s four members continue chasing their passion despite being told many times that “Making it as a musician is a long-shot,” a piece of advice that inspired this album and its title. Longshot takes its listeners through a full spectrum of emotions, telling stories of heartbreak, new beginnings, overcoming personal struggles, finding truths, discovering new places, and getting older, all weaved into Passafire’s genre-defying mix of reggae, hard rock, hip hop, and anything else that turns the group on musically.

Passafire was formed in Savannah, GA, in 2003 by Ted Bowne and Nick Kubley, and have built a strong reputation within the U.S. reggae scene through relentless touring with fellow band members Mike DeGuzman and Will Kubley. Bowne doesn’t mind the grueling schedule and adds, “Touring is the best way to keep the buzz about the band going. What keeps it fun and exciting is the people we meet and places we get to see. We are in a new city every day so there’s always something to go see or do.” They continue to be a larger part of the U.S. reggae scene, even though musically they are often far apart from many of their peers in the genre, with a growing emphasis on alternative and progressive rock elements within their songs.

Slim Cessna's Auto Club

There comes a moment in every Slim Cessna’s Auto Club show when you realize you’re seeing something you’ll never see anywhere else. It’s Slim Cessna in a whitecowboy hat and beard, the lights haloing his ungainly frame, horn-rimmed glasses flashing through the smoke. He’s trading lyrics and insults with Munly Munly, gaunt and strange, dressed in a shade of black particular to preachers and burnt down barns. Their voices rise and converge in the kind of exquisite harmony usually found in Sacred Harp congregations, and then the band cuts loose, the best live band in the world, and the two men are doing battle, playing out some cathartic war between good and evil on stage. Or trading dance steps. You can’t tell.

I said the best live band in the world, and I ain’t the only one. No Depression and Spin Magazine have said the same. This is a band that’s held its own onstage with everybody from Johnny Cash to the Dresden Dolls. But you listen to the recording of “That Fierce Cow is Common Sense in a Country Dress,” and it’ll take you just about four minutes before you realize you’re listening to the best band in the world, period. It’s Lord Dwight Pentacost leading the lunatic rapture on his Jesus and Mary double-necked guitar; Rebecca Vera playing pedal steel so sublimely that I swear to God you can see the ghost of Ralph Mooney circling the stage; and, holding down the rhythm section like they have with each other since seventh grade, The Peeler on drums and Danny Pants on the doghouse bass, driving the band, making you lose your damn mind.

They’ve been making music for over twenty years, and there is, quite simply, nothing else like it. It’s gospel music, is what I’ve decided. Gospel music for a blasted world. A world straining and bursting in constant pain, but one that can’t help but overspill with joy – even knowing better. And the songs, Jesus. Songs about Colorado Indian hater John Chivington, alien abductions, patricide, a man born without a spine. This is the wild, bloody and weird America of Harry Crews, the only America worth a damn. It’s what Flannery O’Connor was trying to say when she wrote of dark romances and the grotesque. If you’ve got a heart, these songs’ll break it, and if you’ve got any laughter left in you, they’ll beat it out of you until you cry.

I probably can’t improve on what Jello Biafra said about Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, that they’re “the country band that plays the bar at the end of the world.” But I like to think that as long as they’re around, they can still save us from that end. Or at least from what currently passes as country music.

Lost Walks

Lost Walk's album, “Wolf, Woman, Man”, tells the story of a couple that moves into a desolate mountain region and ultimately faces challenges from the elements, each other and a lone, injured wolf. The band's live performances enhance the story by including visual elements created by local artists, set design by Chucky Martinez and Pat Steeno and a team of four dancers.

Band members include veteran Denver musicians: Andy Thomas (The Knew, Tin Horn Prayer, Andy Thomas’ Dust Heart); Jen GaNun (Andy Thomas’ Dust Heart); Dameon Merkl (Bad Luck City); Ryan Fiegl (Bret Sexton Quartet); David Thomas Bailey (Faceman) Kelly O’Dea (Bad Luck City, Tarantella); Chad Johnson (Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, Munly and the Lupercalians, Tarantella)

Lost Walks Dancers are: Claire Steeno, Jessica Riggs, Karlyn Griswold, Page Cirillo.

Off the stage, Lost Walks hopes to create a sustainable process to raise money for organizations that advocate for wolves. This far, the band has worked with and raised funds for, Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, Lobos of the Southwest and Rocky Mountain Wolf Project.

Dave McKendry

In May 2016 Dave left his home of Belfast, Northern Ireland to travel around Europe on a bicycle and finally give up on childish dreams of ever being a professional musician.

Some months, many kilometres, one lost bike and one new guitar later he was passing through Vienna when he was stopped in his tracks by a love of the city and a rather beautiful girl who took him in off the street he had been busking on.

Within a year Dave played at Schottenfest, DonauInselFest and StadtFestWien, toured twice through Germany, Austria and Switzerland, co-wrote an original piece for the University of Vienna to be used in their Human Rights Masters Program and even appeared on television, all while writing two albums (to be released in 2018) and collaborating with multiple other artsits. He celebrated one year in the city with a VSC* performance at the sold out Volkstheater, for TEDx Vienna.

From intimate house shows to festival stages and every street in between, Dave is right back where he’s happiest: dreaming.

*VSC stands for the Vienna Songwriting Circle, of which Dave is a proud member and owes much in the way of gratitude and experience.

Reverend Horton Heat

Loaded guns, space heaters, and big skies. Welcome to the lethal littered landscape of Jim Heath’s imagination. True to his high evangelical calling, Jim is a Revelator, both revealing & reinterpreting the country-blues-rock roots of American music. He’s a time-travelling space-cowboy on a endless interstellar musical tour, and we are all the richer & “psychobillier” for getting to tag along.

Seeing REVEREND HORTON HEAT live is a transformative experience. Flames come off the guitars. Heat singes your skin. There’s nothing like the primal tribal rock & roll transfiguration of a Reverend Horton Heat show. Jim becomes a slicked-back 1950′s rock & roll shaman channeling Screamin’ Jay Hawkins through Buddy Holly, while Jimbo incinerates the Stand-Up Bass. And then there are the “Heatettes”. Those foxy rockabilly chicks dressed in poodle-skirts and cowboy boots slamming the night away. It’s like being magically transported into a Teen Exploitation picture from the 1950′s that’s currently taking place in the future.

Listening to the REVEREND HORTON HEAT is tantamount to injecting pure musical nitrous into the hot-rod engine of your heart. The Reverend’s commandants are simple. And no band on this, or any other, planet rocks harder, drives faster, or lives truer than the Reverend Horton Heat. These “itinerant preachers” actually practice what they preach. They live their lives by the Gospel of Rock & Roll.

From the High-Octane Spaghetti-Western Wall of Sound in “Big Sky” — to the dark driving frenetic paranoia of “400 Bucks” – to the brain-melting Western Psychedelic Garage purity of “Psychobilly Freakout” — The Rev’s music is the perfect soundtrack to the Drive-In Movie of your life.

Jim Heath & Jimbo Wallace have chewed up more road than the Google Maps drivers. For twenty-five Psychobilly years, they have blazed an indelible, unforgettable, and meteoric trail across the globe with their unique blend of musical virtuosity, legendary showmanship, and mythic imagery.

“Okay it’s time for me to put this loaded gun down, jump in my Five-Oh Ford, and nurture my pig on the outskirts of Houston. I’ll be bringing my love whip. See y’all later.” -Carty Talkington Writer/Director

Rev your engines and catch the sermon on the road as it’s preached by everybody’s favorite Reverend. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the 11th studio album from REVEREND HORTON HEAT, boldly titled Rev, due out January 21st.

The Delta Bombers

The Delta Bombers have smashed stages all over the world for 10 years. Driven by a hybrid of 50’s rock and roll fused with swampy blues, country, and rockabilly. The hard touring band’s haunting but powerful voice Chris Moinichen keeps the sounds fresh and always from a new angle. Andrew Himmler on Guitar, Gregorio Garcia on Bass and Micah Malcolm on Drums sway the dynamic up and down all night long with one mission: make it interesting. The goal of the band has always been to build something people who wear gabardine, denim, or mohawks could enjoy together. Based on their tour and festival history they are doing just that. The Bombers have set foot in over 26 countries and toured every corner of the USA with bands like Reverend Horton Heat, The Blasters and the Legendary Shack Shakers. Supported by four studio albums and non-stop touring of the USA and Europe, what started as a teenage dream has now come to fruition as a worldwide rock and roll expedition. The Delta Bombers continue to strive for the fringed ends of roots music always looking toward the next song and the next show. A show that should be witnessed by anyone who considers themselves a fan of American roots music, the Bombers are playing at a venue near you!

Lincoln Durham

Armed with old bastardized mid-century guitars, hand-me-down fiddles and banjos, home-made contraptions with just enough tension on a string to be considered an instrument and any random percussive item he can get his hands or feet on, Lincoln Durham is a Southern-Gothic Psycho-Blues Revival-Punk One-Man-Band with a heavy amped edge, preaching the gospel of some new kind of depraved music. With driving guttural beats backboning various growling stringed instruments Lincoln gives birth to a sound that transcends genres with his dark, poetic and raw writing style telling tales that E.A. Poe would have been proud of.

Lincoln’s musical odyssey began when his grandpa, Charlie, and dad, Ed, put a fiddle in his hands at age 4. He would grow into an accomplished fiddle player winning the Youth Fiddle Championship at age 10. Lincoln afterward followed the path so many musicians have, finding his vice in the seductive, siren-like callings of the electric guitar. Or, in Lincoln’s case, the acoustic slide guitar with gnarly pickups haphazardly screwed into it.

Lincoln’s true biography is in his live show. The passion in his sweat drenched, electrifyingly mesmerizing one-man-band show draws you in to feel every scar and drop of blood in his painfully intimate lyrics. It takes something beautifully “off” to get on stage with just hands and feet for a band, driven by a howling voice, and morbidly preach a music that harkens back to the old blues masters, Son House and Fred McDowell, infused with the edge and angst of Punk and darkened from the bad influences of Tom Waits and Nick Cave.

Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band

Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band has built its reputation the long, slow, hard way. After 12 years of playing as many as 300 shows each year, Rev. Peyton, the world’s foremost country blues finger-style picker, along with the biggest little band in the country has pieced together one of the most dedicated followings out there. This following is sure to eat up the band’s latest offering, Poor Until Payday, (the second on their own Family Owned Records label through hip Nashville indie Thirty Tigers) out October 5th, a country blues record that was made the right way — two feet on the ground and both hands getting dirty.

With all the power of a freight train, the Big Damn Band is known for its live shows. Rev. Peyton delivers guitar pyrotechnics the old fashioned way — ten fingers, a 6 string and an amp cranked at full tilt. In the country blues style, he plays the bass with his thumb, while picking the lead with his fingers at the same time. When he lifts the guitar behind his head to play there’s nothing but skill and 16 gauge nickel strings to make the sounds coming out of the speakers.

Beside him on stage are just two other people. His wife, “Washboard” Breezy Peyton playing with all the nuance and percussive power of a New Orleans drum line, and keeping the train moving is Max Senteney on a lean drum kit including a 5 gallon maple syrup bucket. Together they play Peyton’s wildman country blues that’s as much ZZ Top as it is Bukka White.

Ryan Chrys & The Rough Cuts

Ryan Chrys & The Rough Cuts bring forth new energy to music fans who love the heroes and outlaws of old. Influenced by the songs and personalities of legends like Waylon and Willie, they drive their sound with blazing guitars and a rock n roll attitude.  The band pays respect to classic styles, but anyone can tell from their overdriven sound that they’re far from traditionalists. Recommended for lovers of both classic country and 70’s rock n roll.

Recent highlights include direct support for Dwight Yoakam, Shooter Jennings, Blackberry Smoke, The Marshall Tucker Band, Shakey Graves, Junior Brown, Cody Canada & The Departed, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Sunny Sweeney and more. The band toured extensively in 2016 and 2017 in support of their sophomore album, “Up From The North.” Highlights of the touring included the 75th annual Sturgis Rally where Gilby Clarke, formerly of Guns n Roses, performed on stage with the band, and later at the Ogden Theatre in Denver where Billy Nershi of The String Cheese Incident performed with the band. They will be on the road throughout 2018, touring for their album, “Shovel Full of Coal.”

Tracksuit Wedding

It’s not every day a band comes along that’s as comfortable playing big local rooms as it is in the lineup of national festivals. Tracksuit Wedding, Denver’s premier vintage rock / funk / blues powerhouse, makes both look easy.

Tracksuit Wedding is the brainchild of keyboardist Libby Anschutz and lead singer Ali Frankfurt. Conceived in 2013, the band brings together seasoned players from all over the Denver scene, celebrating the universal truth that a band’s primary objective is to get a groove going. After years of mixing funk, soul and blues, Tracksuit Wedding made the decision to ground its sound in its rock roots, adding mutli-instrumentalist and former Fire In The Asylum bassist Roqui Lluma to the mix.

Lluma brings a diverse set of influences – from classical, jazz, Latin and rock – to her new role in Tracksuit Wedding. Her unique style and experience playing all over the U.S. and Latin America was the kick in the pants the band needed to solidify its powerful musical personality.

“She has a powerful presence on stage,” says Anschutz. “She’s really raising the bar for Tracksuit Wedding’s live experience.”

With Lluma in tow, Tracksuit Wedding has become an even greater force in Colorado music. And that comes from experience. The members of Tracksuit Wedding are familiar faces at Colorado venues, both as fans of local, live music and as hard-working musicians. Frankfurt is a veteran of the scene, having fronted the gritty punk / hard rock group The Blackouts for many years. It may seem like an odd move from the heavy side of the spectrum to the groove-based, party atmosphere of Tracksuit Wedding, but for Frankfurt, the only thing that matters is the music.

“It’s definitely been an evolution,” says Frankfurt. “That’s what defines us, the melding of styles.”

That combination of influences and sounds is what makes Tracksuit Wedding stand out. The band’s original tunes are at once familiar and fresh, the perfect combination of the good old days of loose, low-fi, bluesy rock and the well-honed professionalism of seasoned musicians.

“Over the years of playing together we have experimented with lots of added instrumentation and backup vocals,” says Anschutz. “For 2017 we have stripped some of that away to simplify our sound and write energizing rock songs that people will want to move to. This is the sound we’ve been searching for.”

Lyrics Born

Lyrics Born relocated to the United States from his birthplace of Toyko, Japan right around the time Hip Hop was exploding on the East Coast.

From the moment he heard Sugar Hill Gang’s 1980 classic “Rapper’s Delight,” the Bay Area Hip Hop luminary knew he’d found his calling.

Twenty-five years later, LB has obliterated the stereotypes of what an MC is “supposed to” look like and captured the hearts of countless fans who gravitate to his distinctive voice.  He’s now the only Asian-American MC to release 10 studios albums and the first to play major music festivals like Coachella and Lollapalooza.

From his Quannum Recordings debut with Latyrx,1997’s The Album, to 2003’s seminal solo album Later That Day, he’s consistently pushed the boundaries of his craft. His newest project, Quite A Life, is like the exclamation point on his milestone year.

“Ten albums is a lot for any artist, let alone an indie artist who colored outside the lines, so to speak,” LB says. “I'm just appreciative there was always somehow a path for me, no matter how impossible it seemed — either on paper or in practice.”

As the first Asian-American to release a greatest hits compilation, he’s pumped out multiple smash singles across four official studio albums. From “Stop Complaining” to “Callin’ Out” and “I Like It, I Love It” and “I Changed My Mind,” his material has always retained a musically eclectic feel.

The self-proclaimed “funkiest rapper alive” carries on his tradition of weaving funk and soul into classic, boom-bap Hip Hop on Quite A Life. Without the influence of icons like James Brown, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Zapp and Rogers, LB admits he wouldn’t be who he is today. Coupled with his love of rap pioneers such as KRS-One, Rakim and Snoop Dogg, LB’s music is the perfect Hip Hop and funk-flavored gumbo.

For live shows, LB often recruits a full band to “keep it all the way funky” for his audience. Coupled with wife/singer Joyo Velarde’s powerful voice, the unrelenting energy of his performances electrify every crowd.

Since establishing himself among the upper echelon of indie Hip Hop artists, LB has expanded his empire into film. This year, he has roles in Boots Riley’s critically acclaimed film Sorry To Bother You and the Netflix movie Always Be My Maybe starring comedian Ali Wong and Keanu Reeves.

“I'm funny, or so I’m told [laughs],” LB says.“I absolutely love comedy and being ridiculous. These past couple films have been an incredible experience. I'm especially proud to be a part of films that challenge norms and it doesn't hurt to work with your friends either.

“I really love comedic acting. As an artist, it's like another color on my palette. I will be doing more advocating for the underserved in the arts as well, particular for Asian Americans and other people of color. The world needs the same diversity in the arts as we do in real life.”

As LB continues the next chapter, he jokes that he’s become that “old stubborn Japanese man” who says what he wants and he’s not planning on going anywhere. In fact, his goal over the next 25 years is to make another 10 albums and more films. Most notably, he wants to continue providing a platform for other Asian-Americans, a slice of the population that is consistently underrepresented in pop culture.

When he looks back on the last 25 years, he has nothing but gratitude for his position in the Hip Hop space and life in general.

“I'm just blessed and grateful to be alive and pursuing my passion after 25 years,” LB says. “That’s mind-blowing for me when I really think about it. All the obstacles I've faced and accolades I've received, I can only be thankful.”

Boss Eagle a.k.a. The Firebird

An unashamedly clean, undoubtedly relevant, undeniable storyteller. Originally from Harvey, IL, the Colorado-based Hip Hop artist is carving his path as a bonafide entertainer and entrepreneur.

His Billboard®-charting debut album, The Firebird Album, is a reflection of his journey from being ‘just a kid from Chicago’ to becoming a man forged at altitude in Colorado. The album is deep and reflective, but also fun and smart. Boss Eagle raps about his spirituality (The Vine, Firebird), fighting for your dreams (Dream) and overcoming hardships (Ivan Drago), but also uses his rhymes to pay homage to the forefather/mothers of hip hop (Rap Dance). His popular ode-to-the-oldschool, Hip-Hop-meets-Motown track, Baby, demonstrates Boss Eagle's awareness and appreciation of the singers/artists who paved the way for his genre and music to have a place today.

There's a sense of pride for his roots and a confident self-awareness about who he is today. Albeit not devoid of humor and charisma — strong character traits of the performer.

The self-described “Entre-tainer” is also the owner/founder of 8199 Entertainment, a multiplatform entertainment brand company, and an accomplished dancer/choreographer and film & commercial actor.

Boss Eagle is a dreamer and a doer. He aspires to encourage others to pursue their passion & purpose. And that, through his music, people might be inspired to experience the freedom to soar into their own destiny like an EAGLE!

iZCALLi

It used to be Spanish Rock in the US equaled covering “Rock en Español” bands. That’s how it was when Miguel and Brenda Avina moved to Denver in the early 2000’s, and that’s what many people thought “Rock En Tu Idioma” meant: you played your favorite Maná and Caifanes covers.

Miguel didn’t want to do that when he started iZCALLi in 2005 with an acoustic guitar and dual hand-percussionists Luis Galaviz and Raul Chavelas. He re-envision the Rock En Tu Idioma movement of the late 80’s and 90’s, he wanted to do original rock in Spanish — or in English, too, if he felt like it — and he had a vision: that there was a need for the kind of music he wanted to make, with a swath of influences ranging from cumbias to Zeppelin, and a community of musicians just waiting to unite.

The idea caught hold and scored the young band an opening gig with Spanish act BEBE; playing at The Gothic Theatre before that sold-out crowd, Miguel had another vision: “Hay que rockear harder”. A Les Paul replaced the acoustic, Galaviz switched from djembe to the drum kit, and Miguel recruited his sister Brenda on bass.

iZCALLi rounded up nine other bands and released a compilation — Rock en las Rocas Vol. 1, featuring early iZCALLi tunes “Me Siento Solo” and “Que Debe Fallar (Marybel) — the band’s first official release. A proper LP followed in Pintas en Pasteles, which replaced Galaviz with Madafra’s Mario Gonzalez on drums. The band went on tour not long after with Hombres G, and has over the years gigged with a slew of nationally renowned artists, such as Jaguares, Molotov, Los Enanitos Verdes and Julieta Venegas, to name a few.

iZCALLi’s sound drilled through the folk-based rock of Pintas and into deeper beds of alt-rock, indie, Latin sounds and ska for Despiertame, the band’s second LP. The same year, iZCALLi launched Rock de Mayo, a sonic Cinco de Mayo celebration that RETI=Rock En Tu Idioma (iZCALLi’s Flagship Promotion) has curated ever since, bringing Anglo acts like Eldren and Bandits to a crossover crowd — the same crossover iZCALLi has been reaching at coveted spots in festivals like Westword Music Showcase and the Underground Music Showcase several years running.

iZCALLi continues to grow, and they find themselves continuing to tour, bringing in Luiggy Ramirez on drums, and spreading the message via collaboration with Fort Collin’s SpokesBuzz, a nonprofit dedicated to the goal of transforming the Front Range into world-class music scene, playing on the national stage in events such as Latino Heritage Festival in Iowa, plus multiple appearances at SXSW. The band recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with a sold-out show at the Walnut Room and the release of iZCALLi III, a deeper exploration of the same roots that made Despiertame grow. It’s a big deal, but it’s also just another step in iZCALLi’s never-ceasing mission to bring you Rock En Tu Idioma — and an ever-expanding definition of what Rock En Tu Idioma can be.

Dale Watson

Dale Watson is a honky tonk hero and country music maverick, a true outlaw carrying on where Waylon Jennings left off. A member of the Austin Music Hall of Fame, he stands alongside Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and George Strait as one of the finest country singers and songwriters from the Lone Star State.

Although Dale has made his name as a Texas artist, he actually was born in Alabama. Moving to Houston as a teenager, his musical journey began right out of high school as he started playing clubs and local honky-tonks. In 1988, it led him to move to Los Angeles on the advice of rockabilly singer-guitarist Rosie Flores. He played in the house band at the legendary Palomino Club in Hollywood for a couple years and recorded a few singles before moving to Nashville to write songs for a publishing company run by Gary Morris (writer of such country/pop hits as “The Wind Beneath My Wings”). Commercial country did not fit the fiercely independent songwriter so Dale relocated to Austin, Texas where he got a record deal and wrote several songs poking fun at the industry side of Nashville, including “Nashville Rash” from his Hightone debut Cheatin’ Heart Attack and “A Real Country Song” from his 1996 follow-up Blessed or Damned.

After making three albums with Hightone, Dale released The Trucking Sessions on Koch Records in 1998. Including 14 original driving songs, the album received high praise and caused critics to compare him to chart-topping writer Red Simpson, who was responsible for some of the most iconic trucking tunes in country music.

Just two years after this success, Dale’s fiancee died in a car accident. As chronicled in the Zalman King documentary Crazy Again (2006), he turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with her loss and nearly died of an overdose. Dale then checked himself into a mental institution and left a year later, releasing his tribute album to her called Every Song I Write Is For You (2001). After recording a few more albums, he decided to take a break from touring and moved to Maryland to be closer to his daughters.

Back in Texas and on the road in 2006, Dale has been trucking ever since, touring around the world and acting in films (The Thing Called Love, On the Borderline), on television (Friday Night Lights) and most recently, on stage in Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, a southern gothic musical by Stephen King and John Mellencamp . His rumbling baritone has also been heard on commercials for Shell, Monster.com and On the Border Restaurants.

Dale signed with Red House Records in 2011 to release his 20th album called The Sun Sessions. Hailed as “one of the best country albums of the year” (Atlanta Journal Constitution), it was recorded at Memphis’ legendary Sun Studios with The Texas Two (bassist Chris Crepps and drummer Mike Bernal) in the stripped-down style of Johnny Cash’s earliest recordings. He followed this with El Rancho Azul, 14 fresh honky tonk originals about marriage, heartbreak and honkytonkin, which propelled Dale into the national spotlight with multiple appearances on late-night television and NPR.

Halden Wofford & The Hi Beams

With an unapologetic embrace of the twang, Halden Wofford & the Hi*Beams ride out from the cutting edge cowtown of Denver, Colorado. Rootsy and real, neither revivalist nor retro, the Hi*Beams' brand of country music is as boundless and electrifying as America itself. From Red Rocks to rodeos, the Fillmore Auditorium to the back of a flatbed truck, to Prairie Home Companion, Kate Wolf Festival, and performing arts centers, Halden Wofford & the Hi*Beams deliver an unforgettable and original night of American music.

On the band's 6th studio recording, Hard Core Broken Heart (Oct 25, 2018), there's something for every country fan on your block. It is also the first album to enlist outside producer, Bill Kirchen. Known the world over from his seminal work with Commander Cody in the '60s and '70s, his time recording and touring with the likes of Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe and Link Wray, and his current standing as an Austin guitar hero. The album also features special appearances by Mollie O'Brien singing and Bill on guitar.

Aterciopelados

Aterciopelados, the pioneer Latin-American folk-rock group, returns after 8 years with their first long and live project entitled “Reluciente, Rechinante y Aterciopelado.” This CD+DVD is a compilation of the most representative songs of their repertoire that celebrates over two decades of their existence as a band. It features the participation of big names, such as Macaco, León Larregui (vocals for the Mexican group Zoé), Goyo (Chocquibtown) and Catalina García (Monsieur Periné).

The group’s members, Andrea Echeverri and Héctor Buitrago, founded Aterciopelados in 1992 and achieved great success, both locally and internationally, thanks to a sound that was absolutely unique and innovative, free of prejudices, mixing rock with the roots of Colombian folklore and even with salsa and bossa nova.

Aterciopelados have grown and evolved with each production, making history in Latin America and the rest of the world. They have released seven studio and one compilation album, selling over ten million copies of their records. Their album Río has been mentioned by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 10 best Latin rock albums of all times.

They have earned two Latin Grammy awards and been nominated on multiple occasions for the Grammy. Aterciopelados are also Amnesty International ambassadors focusing on the fight against abuse of women and have been strong activists since the beginning of their journey as a group, as well as individually, with Andrea releasing three studio recordings (“Andrea Echeverri”, “Dos” & “Ruiseñora”) that reveal a very clear position regarding gender issues and the rights of women. The first one of said albums carries her name.

Furthermore, Hector, who is composer and producer for many up and coming artists, has always been interested in the environment and the legacy from ancestral indigenous people, and has actively participated in organizing “Canto al Agua,” an intercultural network focusing on healing and caring for the water. His soloist discography consists of his albums “Conector”, “Conector II” and “Niños Cristal”.

Hector and Andrea are currently presenting “Reluciente, Rechinante y Aterciopelado”, homage to all the songs that turned them into one of the greatest and most renowned rock bands in Colombia and worldwide. As a result of their getting together after a three-year recess and with the objective of presenting their greatest hits at the 20 years of Rock al Parque, they have created this CD+DVD. It includes songs that made the “50 most viral songs of Colombia.”

This is an album filled with environmental-friendly elements, and all related videos of the group are already available on the Vevo channel on Youtube and available on all streaming and online purchasing websites. It is a summary of the greatest hits of a legendary band that has left its imprint on more than one generation for over two decades.

In the middle of their world tour “Reluciente, Rechinante 2017”, in which they support the release of the live album that bears this name in different countries in Europe, Aterciopelados’ pays tribute to Juan Gabriel, with its version of “He venido a pedirte Perdón”.

According to Andrea and Héctor, this song is “Sound nu disco and plancha futurista”, referring to the term ‘iron music’ that in Colombia encompasses the great songwriters of Latin music of the 70’s and 80’s.

Pink Hawks

Pink Hawks is an Afrobeat / Chicano Hip-Hop orchestra, playing original and future-traditional music to dance to. Local music scholar Tom Murphy states, "As much artistic revolutionaries as musicians, Pink Hawks bring the struggle for a more interesting world home to roost." In his coverage of the Underground Music Showcase, Westword Magazine writer A.H. Goldstein paints a narrative: “I jostled through the crowd to find a spot at the front of the room. The effort was worth it - Pink Hawks' set was easily one of the most dynamic and infectious of the night.” Your body, mind and soul will thank you later.

Pink Hawks don't just want you to watch them perform, they want you to join them. Comprised of ample world musicianship garnering comparison to sonic innovators such as Fela Kuti’s Afro-beat, Mulatu Astatke’s Ethiopiques Jazz, "Sun Ra's melodically off-the-rails piano playing, and the languid, sonically adventurous atmospheres of Yo La Tengo" (Tom Murphy, Westword), Pink Hawks have evolved from an entirely free-form performance art group, to the more focused psychedelic Afro-Beat ensemble they are today.

Currently led by the experienced improvisationalist Yuzo Nieto, Pink Hawks is a group that will exceed your expectations of live dance music. Trained in operatic singing, jazz saxophone and theater, Nieto's musical inclinations led him beyond the punk roots of his youth to explore other forms of artistic expression both traditional and visceral. As Jon Solomon of the Westword writes, "Nieto not only likes to fill your ears with some intriguing ear candy, he’ll give you something to watch." Add a twelve-piece world orchestra of professional musicians, and you’ve got one of the hottest and most original acts in Denver.

Put on your dancing pants, and join Pink Hawks as they set the floor on fire.

Gasoline Lollipops

Gasoline Lollipops is a Colorado band that combines the sincerity of dirt-floor folk with the energy and rebelliousness of  punk. It’s an all-new incarnation of alt-country that’s both high energy and heartfelt, like the American highway’s soundtrack.

Denver Westword awarded Gasoline Lollipops "Best Country Artist" in 2016, and the group - which released the debut albumResurrection in February 2017 and followed it with Soul Mine just 11 months later - won the 2014, 2015 and 2017 Colorado Dailyreader's polls for "Best Boulder Band."

The GasPops have shared stages with such respected artists as Lucero, Dale Watson, Todd Snider, Slim Cessna's Auto Club and others. They've also been on the bills of numerous great live-music festivals, including Divide Festival; Salmonfest Alaska; NedFest; Bohemian Nights @ New West Fest; the Denver Post's Underground Music Showcase; BrewGrass; YarmonyGrass; Higher Ground Music Festival; Westword Music Showcase; Empire Americana; FoCoMX; Frozen Dead Guy Days; and the highly anticipated Grandoozy Festival.

Chella & The Charm

Chella and the Charm, one of Denver’s musical jewels, delivers an honest and fresh approach to their
brand of Americana music. Highlighting Chella’s soaring vocals, The Charm are leading Denver’s Country
resurgence with inspiring songs and superior instrumentation. Careful to honor the roots of traditional
Country and Western, Chella and The Charm update the sound by intertwining smart, modern lyricism
and catchy indie singer/songwriter sensibility. The result is a textured, lush, and captivating sound that
reflects the pain of heartbreak, the joy and wonder of life, and the wisdom gained from experiencing
both.

Chella and The Charm’s latest release, “Good Gal,” can be found on Bandcamp and all major streaming
platforms.

Rainbow Militia

Rainbow Militia is a performing arts and circus collective working with live music and creating unconventional events across Denver. Our mission is twofold 1) to save the temple building that is our home and 2) to broaden the love of circus and dance through unique and exciting collaborations across the arts.

Chimney Choir

Chimney Choir combines folk harmonies, ambient electronics, and swirling textures of rhythm and melody into a style of music that is not easy to define. They began in 2011 with a guitar, banjo, mandolin, and suitcase drum and have since toured the country extensively, recorded and released five recordings, and developed layers of electronics, live looping, and percussion. They still remain fascinated with folk music and traditions while they constantly evolve and experiment - their performances often take on a theatrical quality that has incorporated puppetry, ritual, dance, storytelling, interactive video and even a sci-fi mini-drama. Their newest album, "(dream)" was released November 2016.

"Chimney Choir has never been a conventional band. Its songwriting has roots in Americana and pop, but it’s informed by an avant-garde sensibility, so that any musical idea or offbeat concept could be incorporated at will. Albums and shows reveal the group’s conceptual and theatrical side: Its last album-release performance was part concert, part game show, and included audience participation. Another album-release show took place in an architectural warehouse, and the performance was a kind of treasure hunt...the group reliably offers up high-concept, often interactive experiences. '(dream)' finds Chimney Choir in fine form, with its signature mix of Americana and ambient soundscapes resulting in thought-provoking pop songs. The new tracks aim for a commercial sound without compromising that experimental edge." -Westword

DéCollage

If Salvador Dali’s paintings came to life, they would sound like déCollage; a kaleidosonic avant-pop band creating space for imagination. Their upcoming 4th album transports the listener into the psychic depths of a bouncy house exploding with bubble blowing glitter fairies wearing rainbow lipstick. Called the "grandchildren of Elephant 6" by Impose Magazine, they've brought their playful surrealism to stages shared with of Montreal, Dan Deacon, Animal Collective, and Deerhoof since their inception in 2009 (Denver). Blurring barriers, at Red Rocks & Meow Wolf they handed out a seemingly infinite supply of googly eyes and fed oysters to the audience.

The band’s previous album was released in partnership with Misra Records and Sub Pop Licensing. Charting at #16 on CMJ Radio, Magnetize is a spirited, collaborative album spanning over 20 artists across multiple genres including members of Sound of Ceres, Ancient Elk, Rubedo, Rose Quartz and many more. Like a space blanket, their live shows warm any heart.

Orgone

Orgōne (Or-gōne). Noun. 1. A universal life force. 2. A cosmic unit of energy, the creative force in nature. 3. A soul music juggernaut with 8 heads and one heart. Now and always, Orgōne delivers dirty, organic, California soul with heart; music that grabs you by the collar, pulls you to your feet and shoves you wantingly onto the dance floor. It all started with two kids from the San Fernando Valley, whose shared affinity for gritty soul records of the 60s and 70s collided with the colorful music cultures brewing in Los Angeles during the late 90s.
That friendship sparked a movement, and Orgōne has been delivering nothing but gold to the funk faithful ever since.

“We intend our music to have an inhibition-canceling effect,” founding guitarist Sergio Rios explains. “It speaks to those who may have wallflower tendencies encouraging everyone to own the freakiness that lives inside them, and enjoy the spotlight for a little while. Sometimes it takes a nudge to let go and get on the dance floor. And sometimes it takes a big 'ol push... a love shove, if you will. And we're well versed in those."

Fearless vocalist Adryon de León elevates the octets soulfulness to intoxicating new levels on Orgone's latest studio album, Beyond The Sun. Dubbed "stank face inducing glory" by Okayplayer, the record is a lightning rod of inspiration for a new generation of funk music lovers. Following the 45 release in April of “I Sold My Heart to the Junkman” featuring Cyril Neville, Orgone plans to drip steamy new singles one by one into the world throughout 2017.

Cosmic Joe is a delicious blend of tight brassy funk and grooves from out of this world. Get ready to move your body because Cosmic Joe gets down.

Inspector

The band Inspector (from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon) fuses classic Jamaican rhythms with the feel of Mexican pop.

Their style is a blend of ska, reggae, nostalgia for the 1960s rock-n-roll and the great romantic groups of the 1970s, in addition a romantic style of their own. They are part of the musical movement called the Avanzada Regia.

Vic N’ The Narwhals

Los Narwhals, as the streets of Denver refer to them are a Latin Psych/Surf band whose influences range from The Growlers, The Doors, Cumbia, and all around garage, surf, and punk rock. The feeling of being in a "Narwhal" show is a trip back in time with Latin rhythmic sounds of the drums and bass, with a groovy pinch of keys and organs, topped off with the nostalgic but familiar sounds of the vintage guitars. Once you start dancing, this delicious concoction of sounds will make sure you don't stop until the end.

The band has opened up for The Mystic Braves, Guantanamo Baywatch Latin Grammy Nominated The Chamanas, Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas, Thee Commons, Santoros, and many more. They have also done live in studio sessions at Colorado Public Radio, been featured in the Metropolitan Magazine, and Barf Magazine. They have played in festivals like UMS (CO) along side Alvvas, Holy Wave, Deer Hunter, among others and have played in ICT Fest (KS).

"Vic N’ The Narwhals released their debut EP, “Los Narwhals,” earlier this year. The Denver surf-rock quartet writes songs about heartache in both English and Spanish. The band, which resides in and helps manage the Denver-area D.I.Y. venue Ursa Minor, received a nomination for Best Rock Band in Westword’s 2018 music awards." -Colorado Public Radio also nominated for Best Alternative/Indie Band by Westword in 2019.

Brubeck Brothers Quartet

Chris and Dan Brubeck have been making music together practically all their lives. Drummer Dan and bassist, trombonist, and composer Chris cut their first record together in 1966—nearly a half century ago. They’ve subsequently played a variety of styles in a number of different groups, as well as with their father, jazz giant Dave Brubeck, and with their own Brubeck Brothers Quartet. With Dan and Chris as the foundation, guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb, complete this dynamic quartet. They perform at concert series, colleges, and jazz festivals across North America and Europe including the Newport, Detroit, Montreal, Playboy/Hollywood Bowl, and Monterey Jazz Festivals. The Quartet’s last cd, LifeTimes was a hit on the Jazz Week radio chart where it made the Top Ten list as one of the most played jazz recordings of the year.

“The playing that takes place on LifeTimes – the wondrous combination of swing, melodic majesty, masterful arrangements and a truckload of truly inspirational solos – just adds a vibrancy and color to songs I thought I knew and loved on a deep level. It turns out that there was still plenty of depth I could have discovered. I just needed someone to point the way and that is exactly what these four gentleman have done through LifeTimes.” – Seattle Times

These versatile musicians also collaborate with orchestras all across the U.S. as well as internationally, including  performing with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and the Russian National Orchestra.   With Chris Brubeck’s compositions as a vehicle, the BBQ has joined with chamber groups to collaborate with musicians from the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Russian National Symphony Orchestra.

Although the Quartet’s style is rooted in “straight-ahead” jazz, their concerts reveal an inherent ability to explore and play odd time signatures while naturally integrating the influences of funk, blues and world music. The group’s creativity, technique and improvisation can be heard in their uncompromising music, which reflects their dedication to melody, rhythm, culture and the spontaneous spirit of jazz.

Venus Cruz

Venus Cruz has opened for artists such as Black Thought of The Roots, Saul Williams, Zap Mama, Goapele, Al Green, Guru, Vieux Farka Toure, Tinariwen, Bishop Desmond Tutu, Big Freedia and GoGo Penguin Jans Ingber’s Funk Fellowship, Lapalux, and Marc De Clive Lowe to name a few. In 2014, Venus organized, directed and performed the Billie Holiday Centennial Celebration at Denver's Union Station, bringing in a record performance crowd for the space. Her current project, "What Young Men Do," includes Eric Luba (keys), Mark Emmons (drums) and Tim Philpott (bass).

Within weeks of its start, the band played Denver's UMS Festival, the Larimer Block Party (now Project Pabst) and opened for Grammy-nominated artists Hiatus Kaiyote and Emily King. In 2016, Venus opened for Grammy winner Gregory Porter at The Chautauqua Amphitheater in Boulder, and played at Denver's Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) and City Park Jazz. Also in 2016, she performed at: the Prince Tribute at Red Rocks; The Cherry Creek Arts Festival; the Inaugural Queen City Festival at the City Hall Amphitheater and at the Chautauqua Community House as a featured guest for their curated music series. Venus has won Westword's Best R&B Vocalist Award, and now winner for best Jazz Vocalist 2018 and held residencies at Appaloosa Grill, Dazzle Jazz, Ophelia's, Herb's Bar and El Chapultepec. She is also the host and DJ for the internationally popular show "Jazz Odyssey," every Wednesday (10 p.m. to 12 a.m.) on KUVO.org 89.3FM.”

Dustbowl Revival

Over the past few years, The Dustbowl Revival has been making a name for itself with a vibrant mix of vintage Americana sounds. Critics have proclaimed that this eclectic eight-piece “would have sounded utterly at home within the hallowed confines of Preservation Hall in New Orleans' French Quarter” (Los Angeles Times) and their “upbeat, old-school, All-American sonic safaris exemplify everything shows should be: hot, spontaneous, engaging and, best of all, a pleasure to hear” (L.A. Weekly). Rob Sheffield, in Rolling Stone, hailed them as a great band “whose Americana swing was so fun I went back to see them again the next day.”

Their new eponymous album, however, finds the Los Angeles-based ensemble evolving and refining its music. Their always-joyous sound now reveals a more soulful, funky side that exudes deeper emotions and taps a more modern vibe.

This exhilarating new sound jumps out on the album’s opening tracks, “Call My Name” and “If You Could See Me Now.” Drummer Joshlyn Heffernan and bassist James Klopfleisch lay down a righteous groove that trumpeter Matt Rubin and trombonist Ulf Bjorlin supercharge with their big blasts of horns. This Stax-style soul builds to a pair of showstoppers: “Good Egg” and “The Story.” The former is a dynamic number that showcases Liz Beebe’s sexy, full-throttled vocals as well as Bjorlin’s dirty trombone solo. On “The Story,” Beebe teams with band founder Zach Lupetin for an emotionally charged love song that features some infectious interplay between the horn players and the string-men (mandolinist Daniel Mark and fiddler Connor Vance).

The album’s first single, “Busted,” also exemplifies the sonic leap taken by the band. Spotlighted by Beebe’s slinky jazz vocals, the song mixes traditional American music styles, like the blast of R&B horns and the in-the-pocket drums, with some inventive touches, such as a mandolin plucked like a hip-hop inspired piano, and the upright bass and fiddle played through wah-pedals. The group has said that recording “Busted” was like a door opening for them to create something familiar yet stylistically fresh.

Even the album’s more acoustic number, like “Debtors’ Prison” and “Got Over,” aren’t as old-timey as they might first appear. “Debtors’ Prison” initially suggests a throwback busker tune, but a closer listen reveals an all-too-contemporary ode with Lupetin singing about the struggles of trying to survive in today’s troubled economic times. Similarly, on “Got Over,” Lupetin delivers another modern-day portrait about a scuffed-up soul battling a whirl of problems who winds up “sitting on the kitchen floor … eating all the ice cream, 2 a.m. on a Tuesday.” Things get a little more optimistic on the sunnier, Bill Withers-inspired “Honey I Love You.” Featuring a guest spot by multi-Grammy-winner and fellow genre-bender Keb’ Mo’, this track serves up a timeless slice of sweet, silky soul music.

The evolution in the band’s sound has been very much an organic one. Since Signature Sounds released their last album, With a Lampshade On, the Dustbowl Revival has been out on the road, winning over audiences with their free-flowing, joyous live performances. After playing more than 200 shows a year during the last four years, the Dustbowl Revival came to realize that they had outgrown the confining label of a retro-minded band playing music from a bygone era and needed to move in new directions.

To help them achieve their adventurous musical vision, the band turned to the Grammy Award-winning producer Ted Hutt, who brought with him a background of working with a musically diverse set of acts. A founding member of Irish-American Celtic punk band Flogging Molly, Hutt has not only produced punk groups like Dropkick Murphys and The Bouncing Souls, but also the progressive acoustic outfit Old Crow Medicine Show (whose 2014 release Remedy earned Hutt the Grammy), Memphis Americana rockers Lucero and New York City roots troubadour Jesse Malin. With Hutt’s assistance, The Dustbowl Revival created what they have called “the tightest, funkiest thing we’ve ever attempted.”

2017 marks the tenth anniversary of The Dustbowl Revival’s formation. It was back in 2007 when Lupetin, a Midwestern transplant to Los Angeles, posted an ad in Craigslist in hopes of creating a group inspired by brass band and string band traditions. Over the years, the group has been an inclusive outfit that frequently shifted in size before solidifying in its current eight-piece lineup.

In 2008, Zach Lupetin and The Dustbowl Revival released their debut album, The Atomic Mushroom Cloud of Love. They followed up in 2010 with You Can’t Go Back to the Garden of Eden, which included "Dan's Jam,” a song that won the Independent Music Awards’ “Americana Song of the Year.” The next year, the band, now known just as The Dustbowl Revival, put out Holy Ghost EP and their 2013 Carry Me Home CD featured more than 25 Dustbowl Revival-ists. That was also the year the L.A. Weekly crowned them the city’s “Best Live Band.”

The Dustbowl Revival found a bigger audience when Signature Sounds released With a Lampshade On in 2015. The video for “Never Had To Go,” starring band fan Dick Van Dyke, became an Internet sensation. The group went on to open for bands ranging from Lake Street Dive to the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, while also appearing at such festivals as Delfest, Floydfest, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, and, more recently, Norway’s Bergenfest and Tonderfest in Denmark.

This new album reveals the band moving in an exciting new direction. Instead of Dixieland jazz and Depression-era folk songs serving as musical mile markers, this CD mines an energizing vein of soul, funk and roots-infused rock that evokes the work of Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and classic Stax recordings, and fits the band alongside such contemporaries as Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats and St. Paul & the Broken Bones.

The Woodpile

The Woodpile is an indie folk/rock band based in Laramie, Wyoming, established by lead vocalist Evan Gwin's solo EP, “The Woodpile,” released in December 2015. Members now include Evan Gwin (vocal/guitar), Brendan Ruwart (vocal, percussion, guitar, banjo), Molly DeLau (bass, cello), Jessie Salas (cello, vocal), and Jesse Twitchell (electric guitar, vocal). The five met through their connection with the music department at the University of Wyoming and Laramie community.

Music by The Woodpile is created with unique and thoughtful composition techniques that enhance the sounds and textures of a variety of instruments. Rich, sweet melodies from the cellos are accompanied by energetic electric guitar, and groovy bass lines, with a tight, rock-influenced rhythm section. Unorthodox song arrangements use lyrics derived from folk storytelling, portrayed through dense vocal harmonies. The prominent use of acoustic guitar pairs nicely with the occasional appearance of the banjo or mandolin, providing a homey, Wyoming-based listening experience.

Together, the band has compiled their talents to successfully create new music, tour the country and share their musical ideas with the world.

Cayucas

Cayucas, the Los Angeles-based band known for their sunny, melodic surf rock and buoyant, rhythmic jams, know the value of a fresh start. After riding the wave that a pair of albums and half a decade in the indie rock spotlight brings, the group—the work of twin brothers Zach and Ben Yudin—found themselves facing an uncertain future after losing key parts of their infrastructure. Seizing upon the opportunity to make a change, they responded by injecting a new vibe into their bread and butter sound, resulting in no less than the album of their career.

Having burst upon the scene in 2012 with their debut, Bigfoot, Cayucas quickly earned all the spoils for which a celebrated indie upstart could hope. Following two and a half years of heavy touring, they released their second album, Dancing at the Blue Lagoon,in 2015, a slightly moodier but no less infectious affair. It represented a creative step forward for the band, and while its level of praise never quite equaled the fever pitch for their debut, fans enjoyed the Yudin’s growth as songwriters and the record’s emotional depth. As they took time to begin preparations for the next record, they were also faced with the task of finding a new record label and representation. Undeterred, the brothers embraced the opportunity to reset.

“Maybe we’re optimistic, but it felt good to get a fresh start,” Zach says. “We were able to view things in a positive light. We were lucky, in a sense; we were starting from scratch and had nothing to lose. And when you’re coming from a place like that, that’s when things can creatively become much more interesting.”

Walker Lukens

Walker Lukens has been called ‘one of the best songwriters in Texas’. The Austin-based, Houston-bred singer, multi-instrumentalist has been called ‘wonderfully inventive’, a ‘non-sexually intimidating version of Prince’, and a ‘veteran balladeer with sudden indie rock ambitions’. Walker thinks it’s important that you realize his name is not Walter.

In 2013, he released his first full length record, Devoted. It received praise from outlets like NPR’s All Songs Considered, American Songwriter, Austin American Statesman, Austin Chronicle, and Billboard and took Lukens and his backing band, The Side Arms, all over the US.

After meeting Spoon drummer Jim Eno in a bar, Walker & The Side Arms started recording new music at with him at his studio, Public Hi-Fi. Their first collaboration, ‘Every Night,’ has been streamed almost a million times now. Their second collaboration, ‘Lifted’ from Never Understood EP spent 8 weeks on the specialty commercial radio charts. Another EP, Ain't Got A Reason, soon followed in April of 2017 and garnered Walker spots at festivals across the country like Bonnaroo, Firefly, Austin City Limits Festival, Free Press Summerfest, Middle of the Map, Underground Music Showcase. His second full length, Tell It To The Judge, will be released on September 22, 2017 on Modern Outsider.

Greyhounds

Greyhounds are the Austin trio of Anthony Farrell (vocals, keyboards), Andrew Trube (vocals and guitar) and Ed Miles (drums). Many music fans remember Farrell and Trube as key members of JJ Grey's band MOFRO for many years. After parting with Grey in 2016 to focus full-time on Greyhounds, the band has only left the road to record and release two full-length records.’

In 2016, while recording at Sun Studios for the PBS series "Sun Studio Sessions", Greyhounds met Memphis native and acclaimed engineer, Matt Ross-Spang. Soon afterwards, Matt moved his operation to the newly refurbished Sam Phillips Recording studio. Greyhounds were familiar with the studio, and its deep history, and had always wanted to record there. It is the type of space that transports you to another era; the perfect place to make the type of record Greyhounds were interested in making: a less produced, and more spontaneous style of recording, all straight to tape like many of the classic music that was made there in its heyday. And Ross-Spang, is the perfect engineer, steeped as he is in the old school style of making records.

Pulling from 17 years of songwriting, Trube and Farrell had plenty of material to choose from. "It was a chance to look back at some of our favorite tunes that we had never recorded" says Trube. Because there were only 3 days in which to record and mix the record, Greyhounds knew they would have to be ready to perform these songs seamlessly, just like they would at a live show. "When recording to tape you have to make commitments. It is a lesson in letting go and not getting hung up on things. Its liberating."

13 songs were recorded and mixed over the course of those three days. There were special guest appearances from some of their good Tennessee friends Dante Schwebel, Will Sexton, Amy LaVere, and Art Edmaiston. "When you are going at that pace, you don't get a lot of time to second guess yourself. You learn to trust your instincts and be more present in the moment." says Farrell of the breakneck pace of recording.

Cheyenne Valley Drive is a product of a band at the height of their game, making music in a studio that has been virtually untouched by time, recording in the style that many of their musical heroes used. Basically a dream come true. A dream they want to share with you.

Patrick Dethlefs

Patrick Dethlefs’ songwriting crests like a humble Townes Van Zandt, innocent of his own haunting melodies and lyricism. Dethlefs’ new release Fall and Rise offers folk Americana with effortless sincerity at a time when many acts strive purposefully to revive the stripped-down feel of a musical history long past.

Now only in his early 20s, Patrick won the Best Teen Songwriter Award (2009) at Swallow Hill Music—one of the largest non-profit organizations in the U.S. dedicated to developing folk and acoustic music. Patrick also received Best Song and Best Performance.

Perhaps the innate nostalgia embedded in Patrick’s music takes root in the age at which he began playing. Inspired by his father who he lost when he was young, Patrick first picked up a guitar when he was 12. Also a musician, Patrick’s father leaves a crescendoing legacy through his son who is not only humble, but humbling, through his unassuming creative presence.

He has opened several engagements for Nathaniel Rateliff, played and recorded with members of Paper Bird. Patrick has also shared the stage with notables Gregory Alan Isakov, Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band), Sarah Anderson (Paper Bird), Mountain Man, and Horse Feathers.

can only be described as a jaw-dropping, musical must-see. As the longest-running Michael Jackson
tribute band, and the only one to predate his untimely passing, Who’s Bad has awed even the skeptics,
selling out nearly 50 venues in the United Kingdom including London’s O2 in December of 2010, the
venue where the King of Pop was slated to end his career with a 50-show “This Is It” concert series.
Beyond this unparalleled achievement, Who’s Bad has checked some of the world’s most famous
pavilions off their ‘to-do’ list, selling out their first tour of China with stops at Ningbo’s Grand Theatre
and Hunan Grand Theatre in Chengsha. Never neglecting Michael’s U.S. fans, Who’s Bad has packed The House of Blues in Houston, Dallas, and New Orleans; rocked DC’s 930 Club and returned to their native Chapel Hill, NC boasting larger, more eagerly-awaited performances with every romp around the globe. Sold-out shows from Colorado’s Bluebird Theatre and LA’s Gibson Amphitheatre and Romania’s Sala Palatalui to Teatro do Bourbon Country (Porto Alegre, Brazil) tell the story: no corner of the earth is safe from this infectious party production.

Who’s Bad has earned its name by paying studious attention to Michael Jackson’s every original groove
and gravity-defying dance move, boasting over 100 years of professional experience and a team of
dancers with resumes that include Broadway productions such as Phantom of the Opera. Vamsi
Tadepalli (Who’s Bad founder, composer, and saxophonist) assembled a cast of North Carolina’s
premiere musicians and, from Who’s Bad’s inception, believed in the band’s boundless possibilities. The
velvety vocals and pinpoint choreography of frontmen Joseph Bell and Taalib York’s combined with the
six-piece band’s synchronized dance routines, blaring horns and down-deep rhythms, results in a
performance delivered with soul and precision superseded by no one but the King himself. They’ve
shared stages with the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, The Backstreet Boys, The Four Tops, Boys II Men,
and hip hop superstar, Pitbull. Captivated fans include LIVENATION’s Anthony Nicolaidis who calls Who’s Bad, “the real deal,” and Michael Jackson’s longtime friend and manager Frank DiLeo who proclaimed after Who’s Bad show in Nashville, TN, “the show was great….Michael would have been proud!” Whether you idolized the Jackson 5, fell in love to Human Nature, or learned to moonwalk to Billie Jean, Who’s Bad is THE ULTIMATE music-and-dance driven Michael Jackson homage. This band of
professionals relentlessly elevate the legacy of pop music’s King, always pushing themselves to be more precise, to raise the level of excitement and awe, while embodying Michael Jackson’s mission to bring people together of all races, genders, and cultures through music. As the curtain opens on a Who’s Bad performance, every MJ fan feels the adrenaline, screams at the sight of that unmistakable silhouette, and succumbs to a surefire Michael Jackson sing-along. The energy is purely magnetic, the musicianship is first-rate, the dance moves deftly inspired. Who’s Bad is a tribute befitting a King and their high-octane execution of MJ’s music and dance has catapulted them to the exclusive rank of Ultimate!

Who’s Bad’s power-packed tribute to Michael Jackson has ignited crowds on every continent and can
only be described as a jaw-dropping, musical must-see. As the longest-running Michael Jackson tribute
band, and the only one to predate his untimely passing, Who’s Bad has sold out nearly 50 venues in the

Float Like A Buffalo

Examining existence, love, and even the mountains of Colorado. ‘Back From Nowhere,’ Alt-Funk-Ska-Rock septet Float Like A Buffalo’s first full length album reaches far into the places that have so wildly shaped it’s members and brings back a fun loving and raw sound that the band refuses to apologize for.

The groups roots stem from the state of Colorado. This theme is repeatedly called to throughout the album as the mythical ‘nowhere,’ ‘the place where I became a man’ and many more. Frontman, Cory Pearman and Percussionist, Garrett Achten formed the original incarnation of the band in Littleton, CO early in 2014. Later bringing aboard Bassist, Jason Clukies and Lead Guitarist, Evan Crabdree. After several rotating members, nearly two years later, the addition of Drummer, Phil Pleckham solidified the lineup for the time being. After enjoying local success for nearly a year and a half, the group then added Cory ‘Beef’ Meier (Trombone) and Luke Story (Saxophone, Trumpet) in early 2017, finalizing their lineup just as the recording process started for their rookie album.

Over a year in the making, ‘Back From Nowhere’ lays bare its songwriting and musicality in front of all else. Boasting a clean sound where nothing is hidden, each track guiding the listener through the concept of nowhere. “I think we all wanted to create something that could be listened to casually, but would encourage you to listen to the different layers.” Says Phil Pleckham, Drummer. “There’s a ton more going on the more you listen to it.” True to the test, the seven-piece band prompts solos from nearly every performer over the ten tracks and showcases the full sound the group’s live sets are known for.

An abrupt start and the words “I’m on the road to nowhere” immediately hammer home the ride you’re about to embark on through track, ‘Lil Ol’ You.’ The uptempo but surprisingly groove oriented tune “is about feeling lost on a journey and outside yourself.” Says lead singer Cory Pearman. “And realizing you don’t know yourself anymore.” The songs lyrics “You messed up” and “You brought up everything you ever thought up” make you question if the subject of the song is calling out someone specific, or their self.

‘Finding Somewhere’ (the albums first single) carries this notion while throwing you through the depths of existence and dropping the tempo. Asking to remember the times back when, losing your mind and constantly emphasizing that you are “Doing just fine.” This emotional call to find one’s self drives the horns and screaming guitar behind to totally immerse the listener; As if living someone else’s storyline.

“Recording guitar will point out all of your flaws in a millisecond.” Remarked Lead Guitarist, Evan Crabdree on the recording process of the album. The Spot Studios served as a home base for the group for nearly a year and a half while tracking and mixing. Run by Denver recording giants Rich Veltrop and Glenn Sawyer, the duo not only served as engineers but producers and even backup vocalists when needed. “I always had butterflies and nerves,” remembered Jason Clukies, Bassist. “Playing in front of a thousand people is one thing, but being under the microscope in front of them is totally different.”

The second single ’She Don’t Care’ is a powerhouse of intensity.  Funk-driven bass and guitar give way to a story of lust that is met with a slap in the face. Inviting the talents of Lizzy Gogolowski (We Are Madeleine and Diamond Empire Band) and Gabriel Mervine (The Motet and Gabriel Mervine Quartet), the seven-piece band ups the count to nine for this dance driven groove.

The music video, shot by Connor Tieulie, tells this story perfectly; set in a bar, as most stories of funk and lust are. “My favorite moment was filming the group dance sequence in the alley,” Says Trombone player Cory Meier while joking about being better than the Backstreet Boys. “The reaction shots [in the video] are all genuine responses to our over the top antics.”

Since finishing the band has taken on several high visibility appearances. Most noticeably at the historic Bluebird Theatre of Denver and winning a nomination for “Best Funk Band” in Denver through local culture, in-the-know publication ‘Westword.’ But progress doesn’t stop here. With plans to drop ‘Back From Nowhere’ in January 2019, a national tour and their sophomore album already in the back of their minds, this unstoppable seven-piece unit leaves you with an assurance that they will be looking to the road ahead, and enjoying this ride.

CASEY JAMES PRESTWOOD

There's a movement bringing classic country music into the 21st century, with a renewed authenticity not typically found on the radio, and the standard-bearer is Casey James Prestwood.  With roots in the South, and refined in the Rockies, Prestwood has crafted a lively and infectious sound that is solely his own.

EXTRA GOLD

Since forming in 2017 as the house band for Denver's only monthly country music showcase, Extra Gold have crafted a country music cocktail that is equal parts Golden-Era Country Revival, Folk, and Rock & Roll. With the addition of upright bass in the rhythm section combined with pedal steel and fiddle, the band plays their cards. They waltz through tender three-part harmony ballads before inciting two-steppin’, beer-slingin’ dance parties that have placed them in venues with modern-day honky-tonk heroes like Whitey Morgan and Jesse Dayton, as well as future household names like Paul Cauthen and Zephaniah Ohora. With a debut EP soon to be released and a full catalog of originals on the table, the tempo continues to pick up for Extra Gold in 2018.

GRAYSON COUNTY BURN BAN

Grayson County Burn Ban started with some good friends coming together to give life to a few country-folk songs that lead singer and songwriter Austen Carroll Grafa had written about growing up in small town Texas.  A few songs grew to a few more and now the band has grown into a 6 piece of sound and story that is so unique they had to make up their own genre. Weaving together the folk-like storytelling with honky-tonk rhythm and ethereal rock, Grayson County Burn Ban brings the camaraderie, peace-of-mind, and energetic force that one may find sitting around a campfire with friends, making them Denver's premier "Campfire Country" band.

Their debut album "Better Neighbor" was released in early 2018 and paved the way for an appreciative year that included a "Denver Westword Best Of" nomination, a 3 week Texas tour, and multiple festival appearances. They will hit the ground running in 2019 with a new release and many more exciting shows to be announced.

HANG ROUNDERS

New country done the good old way since 2015. The band members' pedigree reads like a who's who of Denver dive-bar hero musicians (featuring members of The Legendary River Drifters, Dudebabes, The Knew, Ned Garthe Explosion, CrushCraze, Bangtel), but what comes across in the music is four mountain men manifesting Johno Roberts' tales of his native Tennessee and his observations on a changing Colorado.

Hang Rounders' music is best heard on a dance floor, where it is allowed to do its work and get you movin', singin', and bringin' (your sister).

Their newest songs, "June Bug" b/w "Shaky Hands," out on 7 inch vinyl in December 2018, were produced at Mighty Fine Productions in Denver, CO with engineer Colin Bricker, and feature guest musicians Mark Shusterman (Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats) on keys and the most excellent Jennifer Jane Niceley on backing vocals.

HIGH PLAINS HONKY

Country music for cowboys, hippies, bikers, heads, freaks, weirdos, truckers, and rockers. Denver, CO.

WHIPPOORWILL

Fort Collins alternative folk-rock trio Whippoorwill – Alysia Kraft (guitar, vocals), Staci Foster (guitar, banjo, harmonica, vocals), and Tobias Bank (drums, vocals) – finished work in February 2109 on a much-anticipated full-length debut album. Produced by J.Tom Hnatow (Horse Feathers, Vandaveer) and mixed by Duane Lundy (Jim James, Ringo Starr) at Lexington, KY's Shangri-La Studio, the album is the product of two years touring the American west honing a sound both expansive and raw, rootsy and otherworldly, and always landing in the grittier ‘alt’ corners of country and folk.

“Cathartic, experiential alt-folk written by boots-in-the-dirt, partner-in-crime country girls (Staci Foster and Alysia Kraft) and delivered across drummer Tobias Bank's vast percussive landscape. For Whippoorwill, there's little separation between the soul and the scenery-- heartbreak is a ripped floodplain and longing, an unbroken expanse of sky. It's Cormac McCarthy meets Neil Young via non-traditional banjo, long harmonica riffs, distorted guitar, and three-part harmonies that can scorch, soar, or haunt accordingly. "

The band has shared the stage with Big Thief, Shovels and Rope, Mipso, Horse Feathers and Aaron Lee Tasjan. With palpable chemistry, dynamic live shows, and a long-game approach to their creative work, Whippoorwill has become a Colorado darling and one of the region’s most-hyped bands on the brink. Stay tuned for The Nature of Storms in the fall of 2019.

The Slackers

The Slackers are self styled masters of Reggae, Ska and Rock’n’Roll from New York City.

The Slackers began in 1991 in NYC. After years of local gigs and rehearsing in a dingy basement in Manhattan’s lower east side, the band released its debut album, Better Late Than Never, in 1996. The band’s success resulted in the release of a second album, Red Light, on the Epitaph label in 1997. Since then the Slackers have released 11 more studio albums (The Question, Wasted Days, Slackers & Friends, Close My Eyes, Slackers in Dub, Peculiar, Boss Harmony Sessions, Self Medication, Lost and Found, The Great Rocksteady Swindle, and The Slackers [self-titled, 2016] ) 3 live albums (Live at Ernestos, Upsettin Ernestos, Slack in Japan), several EPs (International War Crimminal, My Bed is a Boat), and numerous singles and compilation tracks.

Since 1997 the Slackers have played over 100 shows every year in a total of 46 american states, 7 Canadian provinces, 22 European countries, 5 Latin American countries, and 2 Asian countries.

The band’s musical style is distinct from their contempories; a mix of early Jamaican music with classic 50’s and 60s American styles. There are influences from 50s and 60s Rock’n’Roll, Rythmn and Blues, Jazz and Latin music. Singer Vic Ruggiero has coined the term ‘Jamaican Rock’nRoll.’ to describe it. He says, “The band might play a classic Jamaican style but the vocals are distinctly American east coast, revealing the obvious connection of Jamaican music to the Doo-Wop of Harlem and the Bronx.”

The Alcapones

The Alcapones is a musical brotherhood that is one part heart and one part madness, initially founded in 2012. This band shares life’s simple joys through original music inspired by the authentic Jamaican Ska, Rocksteady, and Reggae sound.  From raw originals to Jazz/Ska/Reggae fusion, you will find that The Alcapones’ styles continuously inspire your feet on the dance floor. Raise your spirit and celebrate life like a gangster of Love!

Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers

Joe Hertler & The Rainbow Seekers will make a sprightly young groove doctor out of anyone. With spectacular energy pulsating from every member of the band, the Rainbow Seekers could illuminate the very chambers of Heaven. Lead singer Joe Hertler splashes through lyrical puddles of golden rain, leaving his audience wearing flowery crowns and bubbling smiles. A ride on the Rainbow will take you across the mountains of Motown, through the fjords of folk, over the archipelagos of Americana, and-at last-into a funky firth, where only the fiercest of friendships can be found.

The Rainbow Seekers began their historic quest 8 years ago, revolving around the pure, unadulterated songwriting of their fearless leader, Joe Hertler. Ryan Hoger was the first among the Seekers to find this lonely songsmith and recognize the twinkling magic in his beard. The young boy gave up all his earthly possessions (besides his guitar, of course) and became the first disciple of the Rainbow. With this, the core of the Rainbow was thereby established, and it didn’t take long for the Rainbow Seekers to continue their expansion. Multi-instrumentalist and notable auxiliary percussion maestro Micah Bracken journeyed from the bowels of Atlantis when he heard tell of the Rainbow, and the earth trembled as saxophonist and all-around badass Aaron Stinson descended from Olympus on a golden rainbow of his own. Then came thunder from the depths of space and as it picked up the bass, a soft exhale escaped the lips of every princess within a hundred moons, “Bambis,” they cooed. All the while, on the other ends of the earth, a young boy was hard at work, honing and sharpening his sticks for the day that the Rainbow would come his way, and when it landed at his door, Ryan McMahon climbed aboard.

Since the early days, their quest has brought them across the nation and upon such noble gatherings as Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, and Summer Camp. As you'll know if you've seen the band, seeking the proverbial Rainbow is all about the live performance. "The live show is the purpose of the band. This is why we make music. Playing music is a symbiotic process, the crowd is as much a part of it as the musicians. We give as much energy and love as we can and we can feel that coming from the crowd as well" says Hertler. "We believe that performance is not a High Art operation, and that you should do anything you can to ensure that the crowd is having a good time. From piñatas to confetti, to fog, to flowers, to drum solos, to strobe lights, to Thor, to sword battles-literally anything goes.”

If you're still reading this, at least one thing is true: The Rainbow Seekers have been waiting for you. If you'll only let them, they will shake the dust from your wildest expectations. They will roar into your life with rapturous frequencies, exuberant tone, and a joyfulness of purpose that has truly become a rare sight on stage. Join them in their celebration, and they will take you on a never-ending journey to a place you'll never be able to describe in words.

The Denver, CO based band has a charismatic approach fueled by conscious thinking, with lyrics that are uplifting, relatable, and insightful. Bringing an energetic and moving live performance, A-Mac & The Height encourages their audience to partake in a genuine and united musical journey with them. Similarly, the group is known for creating intricate and extended musical passages through improvisation and faith in the unknown.

In addition to fearlessly touring the majority of the United States within their first year of forming, the band has also put out two full length albums. Young, bold and determined, the group is fascinated with pushing the envelope of artistic expression, paying homage to many of the greats including Sublime, Bob Marley, Dr. Dre and Grateful Dead.

After years of experiment and development, Alex Mackenzie-Low (a.k.a. A-Mac - Vocals &  Guitar) has united his latest musical brotherhood, known as The Height. The band features six of Denver's premiere musicians including Matt McElwain (Drums), Stephen Eski Edwards (Bass), Karl Rivers (Keyboards), Joey Bean (Saxophone & Vocals), Ted Kleist (Guitar & Vocals), and Jake Heym (Percussion). A-Mac & The Height continues to break the mold and expand impact over a wide range of music lovers.
